Reporting to the corporate controller, manage a variety of accounting functions for Continental Concession Supplies (a nationwide distributor of goods purchased by movie theaters, stadiums retailers, and small businesses), as well as a sister company, Forward Thinking LLC, which sells GPS tracking systems used in the trucking industry.

Utilizing Oracle and QuickBooks Pro, thoroughly manage the accounts payable (A/P) function for both businesses and the A/P and A/R functions for Forward Thinking.

Review, approve, and pay incoming vendor charges from approximately 150 suppliers. Classify vendor charges appropriately (expense vs. capital improvement with depreciation). Negotiate terms and discounts.

Create ad hoc reports for the analysis of A/P and A/R aging and initiate appropriate action.

Communicate with purchasing, sales, and warehouse groups regarding terms of sale/purchase, price discrepancies, quantity discounts, inventory discrepancies, and payment methods.

Manage weekly bank reconciliations and cash transfers between two accounts.

Complete monthly/quarterly/yearly sales tax reporting and payments reflecting taxable sales in seven states.

Maintain best practices for internal controls by daily review of bank account balances, credit card charges, and frequent ACH activity (domestic and international). In so doing, ensure that all financial transactions are accurate /appropriate.

Judiciously time the payments of invoices so as to never incur late-payment penalties as well as to routinely take advantage of discounts for prompt payments.

Conduct timely end-of-month close and produce and review General Ledger Details Report spanning 80 categories. Research and appreciate any trends in the data, such as outlying expenses.

Act on lagging A/R by initiating collections phone calls to delinquent accounts. Resolve/defend questionable chargeback by customers. Recommend the write-off of bad debt, as appropriate.

Reconcile credit card charges with submitted expense reports from 20 employees.
