CAREER PROFILE AND SKILLS
I have more than twenty six years of work experience in the maritime industry and since 1996 sailing on bulk carriers, container ships of fourth generations, Multi Purpose ships and Reefer ships with responsibilities including maritime operations, working and communicating with ship owners, technical dept, purchase dept, personal dept, charterers, agents, stevedores and port authorities for commercially successful operation of the vessel. Planning and purchase of provisions & bond store items for ship’s crew. Vessel in continuous readiness for Port State Control and Flag State inspections which includes crew training and drills to cope up all types of emergencies in accordance with Safety Management System. Maintaining statutory, trade certificates and documents up to date. Cargo capacity management, cargo inspection, container ship planning / stowage and care. Ship projects planning and execution, Budget planning for ship maintenance and repairs, Managing dry docking operations of the ship, responsible for vessel's stability at all times. Crew handling and management, International Safety Management Code compliance, P & I insurance claims handling and production of technical reports. Other responsibilities included planning the ship’s voyages and execution, navigating the ships at high seas and congested waters, ship's safety and security officer, responsible for the health and hygiene of the ship’s crew, maintenance of deck machinery, management and training of ship's officers and crew.
I have been working with the shipping industry since March 1989, since then I have undergone various trainings and education to achieve MCA Master Mariner Class I (Deck) Unlimited Certificate of competency from United Kingdom. I have served in merchant shipping in various capacities; I have sailed in the capacity of Master on Multi Purpose ship and was carrying bulk/general cargo and Bulk Carriers. Self sailed as Chief Officer on fourth generation container ships since 2004. Container ship trade is the fastest commercial activity in today’s shipping environment. It demands challenging attitude, commitment, strong maritime knowledge, background and training to achieve the required goals and objectives.
During my job on ship, I had strong commitment towards my job and always worked to my best and to the entire satisfaction of my superiors and company.
I have worked with different nationalities and had strong bond of cooperation among us. Teamwork and commitment were the basic tools during my job as Master / crew manager onboard ship.
I have been teaching, delivering lectures and training the junior officers, cadets and crew onboard ships.
I am competent and confident of my IT skills and always keep myself updated with the developments in the IT industry. I am very adept in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, computer hardware, diagnostics, repair, computer assembly and installation of windows.
Having gained sufficient experience and knowledge in maritime industry, I find myself in perfect position to contribute to the shore side of the shipping.
