Purchasing Manager at King Taco Restaurant Inc (Feb 2010 – Jun 2013)
King Taco was a growing, fast food restaurant chain. With a $40 million annual budget, I successfully led the Purchasing Department. Our portfolio consists on 850 regular items: meats, produce, paper, plastic, cleaning, kitchen equipment, and office supplies, plus 1200 non-regular items, to assist 20 stores and 8 departments. I increased the number of providers by 50%. I established safety reserves in vendor’s warehouse to avoid shortages. I established weekly and annual bid processes to assure competitive prices from vendors. I supervised two buyers.
Purchasing Manager at US Merchants Inc (Jan 2008 – Feb 2010)
US Merchants is a contract packaging company hired by suppliers to Costco, Sam’s Club, etc. With a $40 million annual budget, I successfully drove the Purchasing Department. The portfolio concentrated on: corrugated paper, aluminum, RPET, PET and PVC plastics to assist 5 plants in USA and Canada. I supported Sales coordinators with better prices, new options and shorter lead times. I established safety reserves to avoid shortages and delays. I increased the number of suppliers by 20%. I negotiated 120 day payment terms with the principal vendors.
Purchasing Manager at King Taco Restaurant Inc (Apr 2005 – Aug 2007)
With a $20 million annual budget, I successfully led the Purchasing Department. I was able to manage a 5 people team. I found new local vendors and negotiate for first time with foreign manufacturers & importers. I successfully established long term relationships. The portfolio consisted on fresh meats, produce; canned & bagged food; paper & plastic items; cleaning, kitchen and office supplies. The company reduced their cost of goods sold in a growing phase for the first time.
Business Consultant (Sep 2000 – Sep 2004)
I successfully negotiated better line of credits and interest rates with banks and suppliers for my customers. I structured flexible payment plans, based in sales and production plans. I estimated fixed and variable costs and estimated business margins in food industries. I audit payable and receivable accounts, inventories, fixed asset and stockholder’s equity accounts. Customers were corn, cotton, avocado, and grape farmers, as well as fruits and fertilizers importers.
Purchasing Officer at Negociacion Avicola La Huaca (Apr 1999 – Sep 2000)
I effectively led the Purchasing Department with a $12 million annual budget. I concentrated in poultry food, ingredients, nutrients and animal vaccines to attend 2.0 million egg layers and half million broilers. I elaborated the financial projections and negotiated with major bank creditors. I reduced the loan interest rates from 18% to 8% APR. I obtained lines of credit from banks and suppliers in a time where the company was not subject of credit.
