Roles & Responsibilities:

Content enhancement of various lectures pertaining to the Microbiology papers for MBBS students with support of a team of 7 members (3 animators, 3 programmers, and 1 typist)

Imagine what would be the best visual to illustrate whatever the speaker is speaking about on the slide and create content to enhance the lecture and make it interesting

Refer various text books, atlases, journals and the internet to search and find appropriate visual reference material that describes our visualization of the talk or the lesson

Give written and oral instruction to animators for each component of the visualization

Guiding the animators and programmers to create each visual component graphically and then getting lectures animated (with diagrams, animation videos, etc.)

Check for quality of the educational material produced including factual correctness of the content, spelling, grammar and appropriateness of the audio- visual material created

Assisting the company in hiring professors from medical colleges from across India to deliver the lectures

Get the lessons reviewed by peers and process in-charge and then team up with the graphic teams for any corrections suggested

Finally Certify the completed lessons and ensure it is error free in all respects

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

Project Title: Anti Tumor Studies of a Lectin Isolated from the Mature Seeds of Trichosanthes anguina

Duration: 90days.

Institute: Regional Cancer centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

Parameters: Affinity Column chromatography, fluorescence microscopy, SDS-PAGE, AGE, MTT-assay, acute in vivo cytotoxicity, and cell culture.

Acquainted Instruments:

ELISA Reader, PCR, High speed refrigerated centrifuge, SDS-PAGE, Agarose Gel electrophoresis, Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence microscope, and chromatography instruments.

Techniques:

DNA isolation (animal, plants and microbes), Polymerase Chain Reaction, Agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Blotting Techniques, Bacterial Fermentation, Column Chromatographies, Immunological and Serological Tests, MTT-assay, Immobilization of enzymes, Microbiology and Biochemistry Procedures, and Phlebectomy.

Description:

This project was done under the guidance of Dr. P. Ramani (Associate Professor, Division of Cancer research, RCC, Trivandrum).

The aim of the study was:

Screening of some of the commonly used vegetables for lectin activity

Isolation, purification of the lectin from mature seeds of Trichosanthes anguina (Snake Gourd) that showed highest haemagglutination titre

Characterisation of Snake Gourd Lectin (SGL)

Investigation of the cytotoxicity of purified SGL towards murine asctic lymphoma

Lectins showed cytotoxic effects on tumor cells as well as proved to be harmless to the normal cells, and hence it could be considered as a promising drug for further research in Cancer Biology

TRAINING:

Underwent one month training at King’s Marine Products. Uliyakovil, Kollam under the guidance of Mrs. Rajasree. K. S.

Description:

Performed MPN test to check the purity of water uses.

Isolation and identification of bacteria from the seafood samples.

Bacterial colonies were counted and compared with standard charts.

Samples were tested before and after packing, for detecting the presence of coliforms n other pathogenic bacterias like Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella
