A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF COMPUTER INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING (CIM) Basically Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) is the manufacturing approach of using computers to control the entire production process. In a CIM system functional areas such as design, analysis, planning, purchasing, cost accounting, inventory control, and distribution are linked through the computer with factory floor functions such as materials handling and management, providing direct control and monitoring of all the operations.

CURRICULUM/ COLLEGE PROJECTS
B.E. PROJECT
Project Title: “Automatic Foot Step Power Generation” Brief Overview of Project
o The Foot step are fabricated and incorporated with Gear trains which is turn rotates the generator armature to produce direct current. This direct current issued to power street light by lighting the LEDs. This can also be used to light shopping malls, schools, etc. it can also be used charge a battery bank (Lead acid battery) that can be used as a backup when the sun is shining and the stored energy can be utilized during night. The relay circuit will be ON only when there is sufficient power supply. Thus this method could be very useful in schools, shopping malls, Bus & Railway Stations where there are lot of people walking by. It can also be used in remote and village areas where there is scarcity of power supply. M. TECH PROJECT
Project title: “Influence of Nano-Fillers on The Mechanical and Wear Behavior of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composites”
Brief Overview of Project
The objective of the project is to fabricate particulate epoxy composites with varying percentages of MoS2 and SiC Nano-fillers (0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.7%) as particulate reinforcements. The fabrication was carried out using resin casting technique. The specimens were cut according to ASTM standards. Three body abrasive wear test and Erosive wear test were performed according to ASTM standards. It was observed that addition of MoS2 Nano-filler imparted better wear resistance to the epoxy composites. Thus a Carbon fiber reinforced hybrid Nano-composites were manufactured with MoS2 Nano-fillers. The fabrication was now carried our sing VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding). The specimens were cut and Three body abrasive wear test, Erosive wear test, tensile test and Hardness test were performed according to ASTM standards. It was observed that the optimum percentage of the MoS2 Nano-filler that could impart better wear resistance to the epoxy composites lies between 0.4% - 0.7%. PUBLICATIONS & CONFERENCES

PROFESSIONAL INTEREST
Research in Nano Technology
My primary area of interest in Nano-technology is the manipulation of molecules to form gears and levers and shafts so that a motor and the concept of Nano-robots at molecular level can be designed.
Apart from the advanced concepts of Nano-robots, Nanotechnology is an important aspect of material science where the material chemistry can be manipulated to make it flexible and adaptable to its environment automatically to suite the requirements and deliver comfort, ease and also add to the aesthetic of the products. However this study requires intense research and many factors has to be taken care of.
Secondly I have keen interest in designing thin films that are Nano-engineered and can be used as a coating on solar panels basically but also as a coating material in different engineering systems and improve the efficiency of the system .My another Interest of research is the use of Nano-fillers as reinforcement in composites that could improve the mechanical, electrical and optical properties of the composite.
Apart from Nano-technology I am interested in increasing the efficiency of 3D printing or rapid prototyping in terms of producing intricate details of the product. Human bone can also be manufactured employing 3D printing and thus the intricateness has to be taken care of. The VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding) is an another manufacturing technique that could be used to manufacture of composites, and this technique will enable the manufacturer to obtain the optimum calculated amount of resin to fiber ratio and a complete void free composite is possible.
Apart from all these, Nano-technology study also encompasses the development of microscopes and improving mechanisms such that it has the ability to capture details of the specimens at a very high magnification and with ease of use.
