Duties and Responsibilities

-Being the senior in our area I:

-Creates and implement schedules for the other Quality Inspectors in the area

-Manage the workload that comes in the area.

-Designates the work to be done by each Quality Inspector.

-Communicates with Managers, Cluster Leads and Planners for part status.

-Creates reports to reflect weekly loads.

-Perform a wide variety of mechanical /visual inspection on internal machined parts, in-process and finished machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as comparators, micro-hite and height masters, micrometers, calipers, pin gages, microscope, thread and bore gages, surface analyzer, dial and test indicators and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) as required, to verify compliance on dimensions given and other requirements such as surface finish, concentricity, angularity, perpendicularity, parallelism, circularity and position. Work involves simple to complex set-ups to make measurement easier and faster.

-Perform First Article Inspection. Works from approved inspection plans, engineering drawings, operation sheets. Approve by stamping and / or reject work failing specifications. Detect errors on drawings and thus inform superior about it. Initiate a non-conforming report for parts not meeting requirements or specifications.

-Perform in-process inspection – inspect parts that have new process added to piece parts.

-Perform containment inspection – perform 100% inspection on all the parts with the same part numbers that failed First Article Inspection and in-process inspection.

-Perform First Piece Inspection – inspect new in process parts or new machine programs per operation to qualify the process and buy out the process. In case parts would fail. Indicate part not to print and inform operators to adjustment that needs to be made for the piece part.

-Prepare Gage Package – create a list for gages and programs that will be used to inspect piece parts.

- Run Zeiss(Coordinate Measuring Machine) Calibration and programs.

-Run and create Schneider (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs using Saphir software and perform calibration.

-Create inspection programs using Calypso and Gear Pro Software for Zeiss(CMM).

- Performs various precision assembly and test operations on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical valves, actuators and systems. Assembly activity utilizes a variety of mechanical measuring equipment such as dial indicators, calipers and precision micrometers to obtain proper build requirements. Test activity requires the use of hydraulic and electronic test equipment, fixtures and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Run CMM Programs on 3 Zeiss Machines(Carl Zeiss PRISMO, Carl Zeiss PRISMO Navigator and Carl Zeiss PRISMO Navigator MASS(Multi Application Sensor System))using UMESS and Calypso programs. Occasional back-ups to (5) other CMM Machines located in the company.

Understand CMM Program set-up and procedures.

Set-up Probe Locations and specifications.

Maintain calibration, maintenance schedules and activities to ensure proper operation of CMM equipment, sometimes running CMM programs on multiple CMM’s in order to facilitate inspections and optimize throughput.

Assure compatibility and correlation of CMM programs with engineering drawings, operation sheets, specifications, sketches and/or written inspection plans. Review applicable documents for compatibility and accuracy.

Perform 1st piece and/or 100% inspection on machined parts, checking all dimensions, angles, radii, contours, bores, surface finish and concentricity to close and exacting tolerances.

Resolve problems with part inspection programs and prove out these programs by verifying inspection results with conventional inspection methods while performing basic trouble shooting and problem solving activities related to the CMM including identification of machine malfunctions.

Identify nonconforming in-process parts through review and analysis of remaining operations and help coordinate corrective action activities. Inspect parts following job setup, operator, and machine tooling changes avoiding extensive rework or scrapping the entire order.

Detect unusual conditions, defective and deviate parts, as well as recognize errors in blueprints and operation sheets and providing information about necessary process corrections to others which is necessary to avoid recurrence of problems related to CMM and Manufacturing operations. Propose preventative actions necessary to avoid recurrence of problems on complex, long-term jobs.

Develop, maintain, and perform calibration and confidence programs, and maintenance schedules to ensure CMM operation to manufacturers specifications.

Perform basic trouble shooting and problem solving activities related to the CMM including identification of machine malfunctions.

Keep CMM programmers updated for program irregularities and updates according to blueprints.

Created simple programs using macros in Microsoft Excel for the fast entries of data that we use in the area.
