SUMMARY
I have over 30 years of Software Engineering Experience. I have designed systems in the Stock Trading
Industry from building a Real Time Database to store stock prices, to a back office accounting system that save a company millions of dollars every year.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Programming Languages – C, TCP/IP Socket Programming, SQL/BI, T-SQL, SSIS, Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Studio, SSRS, SSAS, Pascal, PL/I, COBOL, Microsoft SQL Programming, Excel Macro Programming, Access Programming.
Operating Systems – MS Windows NT/2000 – Windows 7, UNIX Solaris 5.5 – 10.0, Linux Red Hat
EXPERIENCE
Intelligent Trading Systems, Director, Project Manager, February 1984 to Present
Software Engineer and Consultant
Managed and assisted programmers who were consultants for the firm.
Designed many systems for use in financial markets, including development of Data Feeds, Distributed Market Databases, End user screen displays and Back Office Market Making accounting systems.
Designed, developed, and maintained the Distributed Market Database (DDB). The system allowed users/programmers access to real-time pricing from one or multiple vendors, via a standard interface definition. This was designed for a Unix and Linux Platform.
Assisted customers in creating a variety of display screens and trading algorithm's using the DDB system.
Below are companies and systems created as an employee with ITS.
RFG Company
oCreated a Dividend Reinvestment System allowing over 500 corporations made up of over 5000 partnerships to invest in Dividend Reinvestment systems.
oDeveloped programs that searched through corporate action and prospectuses to identify other dividend reinvestment programs as potential investments.
oCreated programs to manage the accounting and bookkeeping needed for each corporation and partnerships.
oCreated a Stock Loan/Stock Borrow System to track of all stock loans/borrows.
United Bank of Switzerland
oPart of group of programmers that maintained their proprietary Price Machine, an internal system that fed real time pricing throughout the company.
oDeveloped and maintained ticker feed interfaces to various foreign exchanges.
oCreated a system to oversee the Real Time Price (MIPS) used in multiple offices throughout the Bank. This system graphically displayed of all the networks and the machines in that network, along with the MIPS programs running on those machines. A change in the display indicated when a process stopped unexpectedly and restarted automatically when needed thus allowing users to manually start/stop processes and change process parameters on line.
GVR Company
oBack Office Accounting System - This system and its subsystems were used by broker-dealer market making firms for daily trade reconciliation for NMS and OTC markets. This system saved clients an average of $1.5 - $2.0 Million annually. The system provided:
Daily Book side trade and position reconciliation to Clearing (NSCC and DTC).
Management of multiple firms within a single company.
Processing between 200,000 to 1,000,000 trades daily.
Creation of NSCC QSR files, using regular and average price processing to send trades to clearing for clients.
Management of corporate actions, dividends, splits, etc. by working with systems such as IDSI.
PNL processing and verification.
Management of Obligation/Fails maintenance.
Tracking of physical certificates.
Record keeping for blue sheets.
Maintenance of CNS short positions per SEC Reg. SHO 204, with cooperation from the compliance and clearing staff.
Full automation eliminating the need for around-the-clock staffing.
oSystem/Network administration
PC administration for over 75 users, utilizing over 150 PC’s.
Network administration, setting up/configuring routers and switches.
Unix Administration for various UNIX and Lynx systems.
GVR/Dempsey and Company
oAfter the merger of GVR Company with Dempsey and Company, expanded the Back Office Accounting System to handle 6 different companies.
oContinued to do all System administration for Windows and Unix Systems.
E*trade Capital Markets/G1X
oE*trade Financial Systems bought GVR Company/Dempsey and Company, then created E*trade Capital Markets (later renamed G1 Execution Services). Converted the Back Office Accounting System to work under SQL. (The Back Office Accounting System began a phase-out process in 2010). Used SSIS and SSRS to create some of the procedures and Reports.
oContinued to supply support to the Clearing Office.
Susquehanna
oAfter Susquehanna bought out G1 Execution services in 2014, continued phasing out the Back Office Accounting System, converting all programs, procedures, processes and batch files to work under Susquehanna systems.
