GE CRITICAL POWER, Brownsville, TX (Matamoros, Tamp MX) 1995-2015

NPI / PRC Engineer Manager 2009 - 2015

Responsible for implementing a stand along NPI organization focused in speed builds and fast DFM response to the R&D teams on new electronic and power distribution shelf’s systems, used in the Telecom and Data Center product market.

Consistently achieved on time Delivery (OTD) above 98.5% to customer request date for prototype builds as part of supply chain services request for the past 5 years; including meeting Cost of Quality matrix expectations.

Reduce Lead cycle times by 40% with the introduction of shared real time BOM dB among manufacturing and R&D during the development phase of the product and the implementation of parallel tool development of manufacturing proof in tools.

Handled procurement and expedition of newly designed parts; administered investment and established controls investment processes resulting in 50% inventory reduction with inventory accuracy above the 99% YoY on an initial $335K investment.

Developed and implemented lean improvements during the product introduction in coordination with production engineering and manufacturing, achieving and meeting 10% Variable Cost Productivity improvements.

SMT Eng. / Operation Manager 1996 – 2008

Planned and implemented new SMT manufacturing cell from the ground up in Matomoros, Mexico to support the manufacturing of Power Supplies. Determined initial capital critical requirements for the purchase of new SMT/test equipment. Staffed, trained and developed newly hired technical and operation personnel for the manufacturing cell.

Developed and set a new SMT processes for a newly establish area, including: selection of capital intense equipment, material management, manufacturing and test strategies, quality plans and technical specifications to support the SMT processes.

Expanded a total of 5 lines with consistent overall test yield above 99%. Executed smooth introduction of over 250 codes during while overcoming continuous process challenges such as the use of 0402 size parts, 20 mill fine pitch and the implementation of RoHS directive into manufacturing.

Delivered 50% productivity increases with the implementation of point of usage storage systems for raw and kitted material, together with reduction of batch size and schedule lots.
