Details of Positions held within Anglian Water
1.District Inspector
Operation of Distribution system, trunk mains, domestic and industrial, including valve operations for burst and damaged apparatus on potable and non-potable systems.
PUSWA/Utility site meetings to identify AW plant. Customer liaison i.e. on-site queries and internal plumbing work. Operation of distribution system (planned and emergency) Service repairs, leakage investigation including night tests on DMA’s. Standby duties as per roster. Certificated in National Water Council Leakage/Correlation, and Service Pipe Location.
2. Water Production Technician
Operation of Water Treatment plant including all processes i.e. filtration, chemical dosing, routine maintenance on assets and civil structures. Monitoring and adjusting as necessary potable and non potable flows and pressure, on site valve operations. Monitor telemetry alarms and respond as required. Standby duties as per roster.
3. Distribution Technician
As No.1 plus further leakage detection work in and out of hours, ownership and maintenance of pressure reduction valves in area, deputize for Depot Superintendent as required.
4. Network Support Manager
Day to day management of routine workload of depot for Distribution Technicians and Direct labour workforce, responsibilities included work planning, site audits, action plans, liaison with Humber Bank industries re potable/non potable supplies, and supervision/liaison with contractors on reinforcement of Humber Industrial system (all pipe laying and final connections on a £47 million contract)
5. Sewerage Scheduling Manager
Planning and managing all reactive and planned preventative maintenance work for mobile crews, monitoring Health & Safety, sickness and leave. Compiling analytical data for inclusion in monthly report. Maintaining accounts for rechargeable customer work.
6. Distribution Maintenance Manager
Management of Direct Labour (eight two man mobile fast response crews), Planned Preventative Maintenance Teams (six two man crews) and Logistics Staff. Maintain all aspects of distribution network. Ensure Health & Safety is adhered to.
Prepare and encourage staff through PDR process to develop skills and knowledge and provide support in a mentoring role to achieve.
7. Main laying/Distribution Operational Support Engineer Section 19
Management and liaison of Section 19 mains replacement and rehabilitation, utilising pioneering engineering methods, e.g. Scrape and reline (epoxy lining), pipe bursting, sub-coil, directional drilling and open cutting.
Mains diversions and new site mains. Authorisation of contractor track sheets. Supervision of Reservoir Security Hatch Cover Programme as per Government requirement throughout Lincolnshire.
8. Construction Engineer
Installation of new mains on and off site, liaise/manage contractors, to ensure compliance with Company specifications and CDM. Liaise with new build developer & site agents. Site audits on main and service laying & contractor hygiene as per policy and standards for water supply and hygiene (POSWSH).
9. Operational Duty Manager
24/7 frontline ownership of all Operational activities and staff on water distribution, treatment and supply works, and all staff within the operational management center to maintain 100% compliance within the relevant framework. Responsible to Director level for the whole geographical area of the Company whilst on-shift.
Utilize skills, knowledge and judgment together with various IT tools to ensure best use of resource in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Reducing re-work, and maintaining all internal and external procedures. Accurate recording of incidents, maintaining daily log for handover purposes. Monitor weather trends to ensure personnel are available if needed, and advised of storm conditions. Schedule work onto Operatives to ensure prioritization of workload. Maintain Company levels of service.
Develop (Whitwell)
I have successfully delivered in 12 months, an NVQ II course in ‘Utility Control Centre Operations’ to approx. 80 candidates, all of whom have passed the assessments. This has involved motivation of the candidates to ensure their success, good communication with all involved to update on progress, monitor to ensure any training issues were carried out, observations and assessment of candidates at their work stations to ensure they had a thorough understanding of their job roles. I have also delivered routine courses in main laying and service laying installation techniques: pressure reduction control and maintenance: overviews of water treatment and water networks (operations and management); EU skills of water hygiene and SHEAR.
