Volunteer Experience:
President
Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association (EDBFA) March 2014- Current
I undertook hiring paid staff, coordinating volunteers, and managing contract vendors. We currently have seven Board members, three paid staff, and many contractors. The practice season starts when the water breaks; this is in order to run a practice grid for 2000 paddlers annually. The EDBFA runs one of Edmonton's only water festivals that 1200 paddlers, their families, and friends take in. This festival is held rain or shine! It’s always the 3rd weekend of August. We will be celebrating our 20th year in 2016! I am active with the City of Edmonton on this front and all subcommittees the EDBFA Board has. I have also helped to redevelop the website to its current state and have moved the organization from a paper based to an electronic one.
Director of Paddler Relations
Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association (EDBFA) Feb 2013 - March 2014
I hired and managed one of our staff members and worked to ensure paddlers concerns were heard by the Board of Directors.
Director at Large
Holland Gardens Condominium Board of Directors Sept 2012 - Sept 2014
I sat on this board at this time to provide the voice of the community. The board had recently changed all but one director. Even the company that was hired to do the day to operations changed.
President
