Project Manager

Project Manager (Contracted) for AP1000 Nuclear Island Structures (Auxiliary Building) at Westinghouse Electric Company Cranberry. Responsible for managing two contractor companies to produce drawings and calculations for domestic AP1000 plants. Responsible for 18 in house engineers for the preparation of China reconciliation reports and calculations to support both domestic and China construction. Contracted to Westinghouse from 9/2010 to 10/2014.

Business Development Manager for Hatch U.S. energy engineering services. Responsible for preparing the U.S. business plan and marketing Hatch engineering services to utilities, non-regulated utility subs, and related energy companies.

Project Manager for Jordan Energy Mining Limited for the power plant for an oil shale to synthetic crude and waste fuel to energy project. The feasibility study utilized Jordanian oil shale for feedstock to a synthetic crude oil plant that produced a high hydrogen content waste gas that was used to produce 72 MW of combined cycle power for use within the mine/refinery/power station with the remainder of the power sold into the Jordanian grid.

Project Manager for the preparation of a feasibility study for an inside the fence generation facility for Alouette Aluminum smelter in Quebec to utilize wind, hydro, and/or biomass as sources of generation. Recommended and provided negotiating support for the acquisition of an existing hydro asset that could be upgraded to provide additional energy output.

Program Manager for United Illuminating Company Demand Side Management program that utilizes management diagnostics and site reviews to recommend new systems and procedures to various commercial and industrial facilities to help achieve best practices as it relates to internal use of energy. Advise client senior management to improved management practices and implementation plans to provide increases to profitability and productivity.

Program Manager for the Western Massachusetts Electric Operations and Maintenance program that provides recommendations for improvements to operational and maintenance procedures with the aim that industrial facilities can improve their energy efficiency practices.

1999 - 2002 COVANTA ENERGY (THAILAND) Bangkok

Director of Project Development

Marketed business unit services to utilities, power plant developers, and cities. Responsible for preparing proposals in response to RFP’s and unsolicited offerings.

Negotiated complex bifurcated EPC construction agreements for 43 MW expansion of the Rojana Power Plant in Ayutthaya, Thailand. Led discussions with the lender’s counsel to ensure that the agreements would be vetted as financeable by the lenders.

Led the due diligence team to acquire a majority interest in an operational 300 MW coal and biomass fired plant in Thailand. Performed risk analysis for the acquisition and developed a complex put/take agreement for acquisition of the assets.

Led the due diligence team to acquire a 110 MW gas fired power plant and development rights to a 730 MW coal fired power plant in SW Thailand.

Provided asset management support for two (2) 122 MW cogeneration facilities located in Thailand.

Owner’s Project Manager for the construction, start-up, and commissioning of two (2) $110 million, 122 MW gas fired combined cycle cogeneration facilities (Rojana Power and Sahacogen) located in Thailand. Responsible to manage the EPC contractor for scope, project cost, construction schedule, and deficiency control.

Negotiated Operations and Maintenance agreements for the two (2) Thai power plants.

1989 - 1997 ZURN INDUSTRIES, INC. Erie, PA

Manager, Project Development

Project Manager for the project development of two (2) 122 MW gas fired cogeneration facilities located in Thailand. Provided conceptual design support to ensure that the power plants could meet the obligations to sell electricity to the utility, the end users in the industrial park, and provide steam to tenants in the park under all operating conditions. Also responsible for coordinating environmental permits, cost estimates and schedule preparation.

Project Manager for an $8.0 million steam supply facility (Sharyn Steam) in Southern California which supplies steam to a containerboard production facility. Negotiated Steam Sales, EPC, and Operations and Maintenance Agreements. Project Manager for the Owner during construction responsible to manage EPC contractor for project cost, schedule, and performance. Operations Manager during operation of the plant. Prepared the conceptual plant design, equipment selection, and environmental permitting.

Prepared a technical bid proposal and secured the right to construct a 120 MW gas and biomass fired power plant in Quebec, Canada. Responsible for preparing a hybrid plant design that would burn a combination of natural gas, wood bark, and wood sludge from the pulping operation.

Developed and marketed an innovative design for waste disposal reduction at waste water treatment plants.

Responsible for marketing Project Development technical services and products to industrial customers throughout North America.

Responsible for negotiating gas supply and transportation agreements for the Erie, PA based Zurn manufacturing and commercial facilities.

1986 - 1989 ZURN INDUSTIRES, INC. – ENERGY DIVISION Erie, PA

Managed a team of twelve (12) field service engineers based in various locations throughout the US.

Led engineering teams to conduct field performance and emissions testing of boiler equipment.
