Planned, developed, and administered all aspects of respiratory care, pulmonary function, sleep lab, and EEG for Ben Taub General Hospital, Quentin Mease Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, Smith Clinic, and Pasadena Clinic. Engaged, developed, provided educational opportunities, and led staff of respiratory therapists. Directed strategic planning, program development, capacity building and community outreach initiatives, and IT system implementations. Johnson Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, and Smith Clinic. Worked with pulmonary physicians and IT to develop physician order sets, therapist charting, and revenue/billing capture.
Addressed defined outlier on national VAP algorithm, High Frequency Ventilation, by collaborating with IT to develop electronic process for IPV for airway clearance with specific charting for HFV.
Created and implemented internal productivity assessment tool to address $80K-$120K in monthly errors; assessment was launched in Summer 2014.
Improved and maintained patient and medication scanning compliance at 96% at all three hospitals by identifying need and securing approval/funding for additional respiratory computers on wheels.
Eliminated adult and neonatal probable VAP at two hospitals with high number of ventilator days by implementing rotation of adult therapists from one adult ICU with VAP concern to other adult ICUs, as well as instituting practice of daily director and managerial rounding with nursing and infection control associates.
