Work Experience

Knowledge of INS and federal laws, regulation, precedent decisions policies, and procedures. As a Senior Patrol Agent, execute solutions to complex operational matters on a daily basis.
Tours of duty consist of activities such as line watch, city patrol, traffic observation and transportation.
Participate first hand in the arrests of terrorists (foreign and domestic) and in the seizure of weapons (including mass destruction, chemical agents, terroristic contraband, human contraband, and narcotic contraband).
Performing extensive details in positions such as Intelligence Office, Vehicles Seizures Officer, and Prosecutions/Borcap Officer for the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Details have consisted of administrative assignments to the Basic Border Patrol Academies in Artesia, NM, Charleston, SC, and advanced training in NM and Ontario, CA.
Participated in assignments relating to Operational reinforcement in the San Diego Sector, Montana Sector, and in the Tucson Sector.
Knowledge and experience in Legacy I&NA applications, policies, and guidelines. Equally important because of restructuring and correlation of Federal Laws as of 2005 under the new Homeland Security umbrella. In preparing for these changes, developed an acute knowledge in these areas by successfully staying abreast of all laws and regulations that impact our job on a daily basis. Continuing vigilance and presence, read a variety of federal and state law enforcement bulletins along with maintaining good liaison with other law enforcement agencies.
Called upon by supervisors to conduct extensive interviews and execute sworn statements on individuals that were being charged and arrested.
Produce accurate and thorough reports understandable to jurors, attorneys, and judges, leading to effective prosecution of all cases initiated and presented.
Interview/Screening Experience
1.Collateral Background Investigator
Duties consisted of interviewing potential candidates applying for the position of Border Patrol Agent. Interviews of acquaintances, relatives, teachers, and law enforcement agencies who were listed on candidates’ application were conducted. Efficient in gathering personal, academic, work-related, and criminal archived information pertaining to the candidate. Forwarded all information and documentation to the Personnel Office in Fort Snelling, MN.
2.Prosecutions Officer
Performed for both the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Sector. Provided testimony on behalf of the U.S. Government. Worked alongside Assistant District Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. Duties consisted of presenting factual case material to the respective Magistrate Judge. Provided casework known to be thorough, concise, and well interpreted.
3.Border Patrol Criminal Alien Program (Borcap) Office
Performed for both the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Sector. Visited local and state immigration detention facilities in an effort to detect and interview offenders serving time and pending release. Efforts were made to prevent their release without first being screen for immigration processing and/or removal.

1.All-Terrain (ATV) Motorcycle Team/Bike Patrol Team
As a member of the team, conduct special operations in our area of responsibility. Tasked to disrupt, intercept, dismantle, and apprehend possible law violators trying to infiltrate the borders of the United States by crossing areas not designated as official ports of entry. Exposed to the elements, therefore physical conditioning is paramount to complete this tour of duty.
2.Recruiter
Participated as a United States Border Patrol Recruiter (Department of Justice/Homeland Security CBP) at the National level for both the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Sectors. Duties included attending functions and visiting college campuses in an attempt to attract a specific cadre of individuals interested in joining the rank. Tasked with promoting, informing, and recruiting for the United States Border Patrol.
3.Oral Hiring Board Member
At the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Sector under the Department of Justice/Homeland Security CBP. Performed duties of interviewing a selected cadre for the position of Border Patrol Agent. Interviews consisted of placing candidate in an operational/situational scenario and presenting them with questions. The answer to these questions were used to gauge how qualified candidates were for the position, in regards to performing their occupation, maintaining officer safety, maintaining protection towards innocent bystanders, and preserving humanity to those they were in contact with.
4.Spanish Instructor
Instructor at the Border Patrol Basic Training Class 351 in Charleston, SC. Initiated class room instruction, administered examinations, taught grammar, vocabulary, and encouraged the class to speak Spanish by incorporating an hour of conversation in class. This proved beneficial when incorporating live scenarios in a controlled environment while conducting line watch and highway patrol operations. Students utilized instructional training and practice on fluency, verbal commands, and pronunciation. Due to the high ration of graduating students, the class seems to have responded very well.
5.Driving Instructor
As an instructor, enforced policy and authority in a class room environment which allowed for instilling good policy and practice to my peers and superiors. Continue to keep abreast of all changes and news that affects society due to reckless, inconsiderate pursuits.
6.Night Vision Equipment Instructor
Delegated to inform the Rio Grande Valley Sector stations on the proper use of remote control equipment and night vision equipment relating to advanced attachments. This instructional training starts in a classroom environment and it ends in the field in an effort to see the equipment’s’ true capabilities in a more realistic environment.
7.Weapons of Mass Effect Instructor
Attended a training in Charleston, SC. Training allowed to gain knowledge and see firsthand the dangers that could arise from not detecting these type of weapons or components when working at points of inspection. Objective of training was to train instructors to convey the message to their respective sectors in an effort to train personnel.
8.Hazardous Material Instructor
Attended in Harpers Ferry, VA. Training allowed to gain knowledge and see firsthand dangers that could arise from being unfamiliar with protocol in regards to handling hazardous material spills on highways and byways. Was trained on which agencies and departments to notify when these accidents occurred. Objective was to train instructors to transmit the message of these incidents to their respective sectors to train.
9.Personal Protection Detail
Provided personal protection for delegates of the United States Government when visiting the Border Patrol Sector. Have been on assignment visits made by President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, Janet Reno, and Texas Senator Phil Gramm. Served as a protection guard for detainees being transported and escorted to hospitals. Duties consist of protecting individuals wanted by the cartels after those individuals have chosen to disclose information against them. Assist local, state, and federal agencies, protection when conducting raids involving contraband.
10.Point of Contact for National Guard
Participated as point guard for United States National Guard when assigned to Area of Responsibility in an effort to augment patrols in the sector.
