Basic Job Responsibilities:
1) Plans Radiation Treatments for Cancer Patients; performs Dose Calculations.
2) Ensures accurate measurement of Radiation output from Sources Employed in Radiotherapy.
3) Consults, provides and Assists Physicists, Radiation Oncologist and CT Radiographers and Radiotherapy Technologists in the development of New Treatment Techniques.
4) Updating knowledge of health and Safety Regulations and Procedures; undertaking audit visits to Departments to check compliance with Local Health and Safety Regulations (PNRA).
5) Involved in the didactic and Clinical Supervision of Medical Physics students and Radiotherapy Technologists.
6) Researching new equipment developments and techniques, assessing the impact on existing local practice and compiling reports to initiate changes.
7) Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
8) Always participates in on-going Research Project of the department.
Technical / Special Job Responsibilities:
1) Investigates Equipment Performance, organizes Quality Control practices, designs Radiation Installations, and implements Controls for Medical Radiation hazards.
2) Responsible for Radiation Safety, Designs Shields for Treatment rooms; ensures Radiotherapy Machines are Operating Safely; Performs Machine Acceptance testing.
3) Daily Survey of the Sensitive Areas of the Department in order to keep the Environment Safe and Secure for the Employees as well as for the Visitors and maintain their records properly and Reporting the Departmental Productivity and problems to higher Management.
4) Commission’s new or upgraded Equipment to Achieve Compatibility with existing.
5) Monitoring of Radiotherapy Machines to ensure correct and Consistent Results are achieved.
6) Work as Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) for the Implementation of Radiation Protocols for Radiation Workers and Visitors to keep them Secure from any type of Hazards.
