Human Resources

Hamilton Marketing Co.

Hamilton, Ontario

Dear Hamilton Marketing Co. Human Resources,

Please find my resume and letters of recommendation on the following pages for the position of Client Representative.

My name is Brandon Westman and I have most recently worked for Hamilton Health Sciences

(HHS) in the department of Public Relations & Communications. I have performed work for this team since April 2013; first as an intern and then as a Communications Assistant after earning trust from the department.

Working with HHS has advanced my internal and external communication talent. I have been commended on my ability to develop clear, concise and convincing pieces of work. My role has come with independent management of several stakeholder relations initiatives. Most notably, I have excelled at public engagement, strategic staff messaging, corporate news promotion, media relations and digital storytelling. I have worked intimately with long-term company partners to deliver collaborative results for HHS stakeholders. Regrettably, I was not able to stay with HHS as the funding for my position had finished. As expressed in the letters of recommendation below, my vice-president and manager had both wished for me to remain on the team, despite budget restraints that were outside of their control. They have made great efforts to advance my career in communications and my professional development.

I look to share my abilities with Hamilton Marketing Co. and I am fiercely prepared to offer you my best. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your team. Kind regards,

Brandon Westman

To whom it may concern,

This letter is meant to express my confidence in Brandon Westman as a potential employee for your company. I have had the privilege of working with Brandon since joining Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) as the Vice-President of Communications & Public Affairs in 2014. Upon joining HHS, I learned that Brandon had been enthusiastically working without pay for over a year. No intern in our department’s history had willingly stayed on board without pay for such an extended period of time. His commitment and work ethic spoke for itself. The only reasonable course of action was to hire him. My decision to hire Brandon was undoubtedly a good one. He’s proven himself to be an insightful team member who adds value to corporate initiatives. I’ve trusted Brandon in assisting with numerous projects in corporate communications, media relations and digital storytelling; all areas in which he has excelled and advanced the HHS platform. I’ve also observed his development, both as a professional who delivers quality work, and a team player who appreciates collective goals. It is with deep regret that I was not able to keep Brandon on my team. The funding for his position had finished and I was not able to secure additional funds. This situation has become common across Ontario hospitals as healthcare budgets are not increasing. In a perfect world, Brandon would still be on my team. However, he has gracefully accepted the circumstances, and you now have the opportunity to work with a communications professional who I’m proud to recommend. His superior writing ability has been a tremendous asset in producing valuable corporate material. His work ethic and attention to detail come through every time.

It is my hope that you hold the same confidence about Brandon that I do. Best regards,

Aaron Levo

To whom it may concern:

In early 2014 I had the opportunity to work with Brandon Westman on a planning committee for the first annual Earth Day event at Hamilton Health Sciences. Brandon was assigned to manage all the media and public relations activities, both internal and external, for the organization. Brandon excelled in this role and produced high quality work, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

I received very positive feedback from everyone who attended the Earth Day event, including staff, exhibitors and vendors. Brandon took on all tasks with positive energy and a calm demeanor in the presence of tight schedules and constant changes in the program. I know that without Brandon’s involvement we would not have had the much needed exposure, and it showed in the event attendance.

I volunteered to write this recommendation for Brandon because I am very grateful for his contributions to the planning and execution of the Earth Day event. I am confident that he has the work ethic and communications skills to add value wherever he works. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Brandon’s involvement in this project. Sincerely,

Rosemary Van Oostrom
