Objective

I want to have a career with a company where I can use my knowledge, experience and problem solving skills to improve and grow the company through whatever business needs exist. I have a desire to improve mechanical and process systems, work with and develop people, and further develop my career portfolio.

Work Experience

Internship with Procter & Gamble in the Engineering group located at the Tambrands plant - worked with Schubert packaging machines, high speed vacuum conveyors, and flexlink conveyors.

Delivered cost savings through improving the design of a robot picking tool, reducing the amount of rework and scrap by 2%. Process: returned the tool to baseline condition, documented the results, upgraded the tool and documented the new results. After this I developed and presented a plan for further upgrading/ prototyping new designs/ rollouts.

Developed and tested a high speed conveyor design to carry product with complete control from point A to point B, enabling future line speed up and increasing production. Setup a test stand, which involved: calculating the required amount of vacuum, sizing a blower, developing the optimal belt routing path, and working with vendors to select correct belt. I recorded data from my limit testing to determine machine feasibility and reliability.

Prototyped and tested a low cost solution for turning product on a flexlink conveyor to achieve correct orientation for shipping. I utilized Low Cost in House Design Prototyping for a cost savings of about $600,000 per year.

Internship with Procter & Gamble in Manufacturing at the Tambrands plant - worked with EDL bundling equipment, Focke case packing & palletizing equipment, and flexlink conveyors.

Delivered cost savings of about $14,000 annually (operator time) and about $75,000 annually (scrap/ downtime) by modifying the bundlers. I improved the sealing process, reducing scrap and operator effort/ time to clear jams. Reduction of about 28 stops/day to 1 stop/day.

Improved the work process involved with changing over the packaging line, utilizing a Work Process Improvement tool/ template, reducing the changeover time & effort by about 50% and delivering a cost savings of about $5,000 annually per line. Coordinated the roll out to other similar lines.

Upgraded infeed system of bundler, reduction of about 36 stops and jams per day to about 2 per day for a cost savings of about $10,000 annually (operator time). Captured work points on the equipment, after updates, and documented them in workbooks.

Developed an alternate/ more relevant way to track data from machines and display it in Plant Proficy Client.

Started my own small engine repair business

Developed "hands on" skills to repair machines

Improved upon my thorough problem solving thought process

The skill set I have gained and tools I have developed will help me to be successful, accountable, honest, and to always give 100 percent at anything I do.

Improved my economic skills in multiple ways:

Budgeting: running the business efficiently and profitably

Marketing: selling machines I have repaired and marketing my business to potential customers

Researching: spending time to find the best deal or prices for repair parts (i.e. buying online and in bulk to save on costs)

Investing: buying machines in large quantities to reduce the price.

Notable Skills

Experience with: 5s organization, lock out/tag out trained, implementing instructions for operating and troubleshooting machinery.

Proficient in Mechanical Engineering tools: Solid Works, Math Cad, Auto Cad, Computer Programming

Proficient in: Plant Systems, flow charts, I.W.S. tools (integrated work system), Proficy Client

Public speaking/ presentation skills

Confidence in using machine shop tools (i.e. welding, drill press, band saw, metal sheer, grinding wheels, and any sort of power tools)

Awards

Obtained the rank of Eagle Scout

Helped me to develop and improve my leadership skills

Showed me the benefits of hard work and dedication
