Lead new business development programs, in concert with R&D and business, from conception to commercialization. Identify key internal knowledge gaps and network with outside universities, research institutes and small companies to provide solutions. Identify potential acquisitions or other business ventures. Assess technical merit of scientific ideas and solutions. Use technical expertise and interpersonal skills to maintain connection between functional departments and customers during the new business development process.

Key Contributions:

Launched a crowdsourcing platform to speed up innovation and beef up product pipeline (without compromising IP security).

Introduced a stage gate process for screening the new ideas obtained from both crowdsourcing platform as well as our employees.

Developed fundamental models of reactors and separation equipment from experimental data. Used Aspen Plus, Aspen dynamic simulation, etc. to develop process simulations for use in design, optimization etc. Prepared developmental quantities of new materials for market development. Prepared presentations, reports and other written documentation to train Performance Specialties Process Technology team members.

Ensure that new products required by the applications groups/customers are produced in a timely fashion in the pilot plant units. Serve on plant improvement teams.

Huntsman Corp. USA Sr. Engineer Aug. 2006 – Mar. 2009

Developed reactor/purification models for several of Huntsman Products. Managed activities of the distillation pilot plant to develop models from data obtained to generate an understanding of the process separation schemes.

ConocoPhillips USA Research Fellow May 2004 – Jul. 2006

Modeled the solubility of metals including Mercury in hydrocarbons and water. Developed models with and without the presence of ions in solution. Extended models to simulators by recalibrating Peng-Robinson and NRTL equations. Experimentally validated the results obtained from the simulators.

Oklahoma State University Research Associate Aug. 1999 – May 2004

Developed Genetic Algorithms) to facilitate the rapid design of new solvents. Used quantitative structure-property-relationships (QSPR) to provide accurate predictions for thermos-physical properties. Coupled the algorithms with accurate thermo-physical property models for scoring the efficacy of these molecules as solvents.
