Monitors the power plants controls and power distribution and consumption - ensuring power is available at all times.

Performs troubleshooting, problem solving and plans activities to prevent problems from occurring with the power plant, propulsion plant and auxiliary equipment on the vessel. Including the sewage treatment plant, HVAC, potable water, pneumatic systems.

Operates, maintains and repairs as necessary the engine cooling water system, lube oil system, and fuel system.

• Ensures that the permit to work and isolation systems are strictly adhered.

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and special projects involving the power plant and propulsion system on board the drilling vessel to prevent down time and to ensure the efficient and continual functioning of the vessel.

• Carries out maintenance according to the Company Maintenance Management System guidelines.

• Ensures that reports for the repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete.

• Liaise with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering and use of fuel, potable water and drill water.

• Maintains main engine log recording daily consumption.

• Ensures that approved rig operating procedures are adhered to at all times. Reports all unsafe activities, situations, and potential hazards to supervisor.
