Charlotte Mecklenburg Department of Utilities Raw Water Reservoir Improvements - $21,000,000; September 2009- January 2012

Construction of a new 300 million gallon raw water reservoir which included 998,000 cubic yards of total excavation, 103,000 CY of undercut to construct new dam, 1500 LF of 84 inch welded steel intake pipe, 260 LF of 102 inch welded steel inlet pipe, 13,000 LF of CPP under drain piping, 27 acres of geo-synthetic liner 5 major concrete structures, inlet race, intake with 3 sluice gates and walk bridge, overflow inlet and terminal, flow meter vault. All valves related to piping, perimeter road, concrete barrier wall, storm drainage, erosion controls and improvements to existing 250 million gallon reservoir.

Construction of large industrial site to include 750,000 CY balanced embankment and 200,000 CY borrow embankment. Removed 200,000 CY unsuitable soils and placement of 50,000 CY top soil. Construction of four temporary sediment basins and three permanent wet detention basins to provide erosion control to protect existing Progress Energy intake canal adjacent to site. Performed localized trench blasting, 200,000 CY general blasting and crushed blasted material to provide logistics stone for project. Installed 12" to 60" RCP storm drainage systems. Constructed asphalt access roadways, and railroad embankments.

I-64 / Hampton Roads Center Parkway, Hampton, VA - $ 32,000,000; 1987
Grade Foreman
Construction of interstate parkway and primary roadway including twelve bridges. Three new bridges were erected and nine were widened. Placed 4.5 million CY of borrow embankment. Installed 3500 LF of force sewer main as well as 12,000 LF of storm drainage pipe with double and triple barrel box culverts. Twenty three lane miles of sub-grade soil stabilization, prime coating, stone placement, asphalt and concrete paving, sound barrier wall, guard rail, signage, signalization and markings.
RDU Runway Safety Improvements - $16,000,000; 2000-2001
General Superintendent
Extension of existing runaway safety area by 800 LF on both ends to meet current FAA safety specifications, while allowing air traffic to continue with uninterrupted use. Included placing 500,000 CY of hauled borrow embankment and 480,000 CY of onsite embankment. Drainage improvements consisting of installing deep excavation (< 20’) 72” and 120” CMP. Constructing two new glide slope localization towers, aircraft signage, signalization and markings. Installation of 10,000 LF of chain link security fence. Specialized blasting of rock in close proximity to jet fuel pipelines and storage tanks. Construction of 2.5 miles of new perimeter roadway that consisted of lime stabilized sub-grade, ABC stone, hot mix asphalt and concrete paving.
Quarantine Road 19 Acre Landfill, Baltimore Maryland - $27,000,000; 2006-2008
Project Superintendent
Construction of the final cell of the City of Baltimore’s landfill. This project consisted of 900,000 CY of excavation to several stockpiles, placed 70,000 CY of clay soil liner 91,000 SY of geo-synthetic liner including GCL. Upgrade of existing and additional new construction of drainage system, lift station, truck scales, administration building and 3 miles of perimeter road. Also, rehabilitation of an existing 52 acre heavy metals landfill by placing 170,000 CY of soil cover, with improvements to existing sediment basins and structures.
Horry County Solid Waste Authority Peat Remediation, SC - $5,000,000; 1998
Project Superintendent
Contract consisted of excavation and stockpile for beneficial use of 180,000 CY of peat deposits within an active landfill which would allow for future expansion. Construction included 36EA 24’ by 4’ by 98’ Portland stabilized augured soil walls to provide support to an existing Subtitle D landfill cell adjacent to the excavation. This excavation occurred in the wet and 27 feet below sea level while 600,000 CY of backfill/surcharge was placed “toe to toe” as the excavation progressed.
AW/Shimizu Durham, NC - $5,000,000; 1999-2000

Project consisted of 32 acres of clearing and rough grading to prepare site for new construction of a 450,000 SF assembly plant, 250,000 SF press building and 75,000 SF administration building along with associated access roads for construction.
