Chief Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Technologist

Perform musculoskeletal ultrasounds of bilateral elbows, shoulders, knees, wrists, hands, SI joints, ankles, heels, and feet including tendon and soft tissue imaging. Use color and power doppler applications to confirm synovitis/tendonitis.

Interpret ultrasound data and write all reports and document all ultrasound images.

Assists in ultrasound guided arthrocentesis, trigger point injections, intramuscular injections, aspirations, and biopsies. Collect biopsied specimens for laboratory evaluations and follow-up with patients on results.

Provided technical expertise in MUSICA Clinical trial: a phase 3 double-blind randomized parallel arm study to determine the effect of methotrexate dose on clinical outcome and ultrasonographic signs in subjects with moderately to severe rheumatoid arthritis treated with adalimumab (Humira). Abbott Laboratories 2011-2012.

Conduct bone densitometry scans including forearm, bilateral hip and lumbar evaluations. Create/complete reports and follow up with treatment.

Cross-trained to perform x-rays of bilateral hands, feet and knees. Use film results to compare/confirm studies with ultrasound results.

Provide prior authorization and pre-certification for multiple medications and procedures that are needed by patients. Schedule and confirm patient’s appointments.

Provide refill authorizations on medications.

Take patient vitals. Ensure patient is prepped and comfortable for ultrasound guided procedures and ultrasound imaging. Prepare surgical trays necessary for doctor performing procedure.

Conduct six minute walk tests to evaluate pulmonary and cardiac functions of patients.

Monitor medical supplies and order as needed for studies, scans and evaluations.
