Structural welder which consist of welding on very large boilers.
The boilers outside structure was in cased in heavy steel I-Beams
Which I would torch the old ones out and would fabricate and weld new
Into place.
The job consisted of torching and grinding bevels on the I-Beams so they would match up to weld. Most of the welding was done With 1/8 inch 7018 and some 6010 rod.

Most of the welding and fabricating Was hands on with the old pieces. Cutting and grinding of new pieces And welding the new pieces into place. Also we rolled a lot of duct work At northern tier. We weld flanges to the duct work and seam welded the Duct work together after it was rolled. This was done with a mig welder.

I was a production welder at ABB you were assigned a welding station
Which there was about 40 of these welding stations.
These stations Consisted of jigs and fixtures. You would take the pieces and set them up In the jigs or fixtures and would weld them.
Tolerances had to be met Before any welding was done.
Different products had different blue printsSo different job tasks were performed through out the week. Most of the Welding was done with Flux core mig shielded with gas.
