General Background:

I have over 30 years extensive experience in civil/structural design with some mechanical and electrical design knowledge in such industries ranging from research & development, energy to municipalities, refinery, petrochemical, power, LNG and other heavy industries. My primary area of expertise is civil/structural design (grading, paving, underground systems, steel, concrete foundation (building super & substructures), utilizing AutoCad 2000-2012, 3D Modeling, and other various computer based programs. Additionally, I’m a highly qualified checker and strong in QA/QC. I possess basic knowledge of civil engineering principles relating to the above aforementioned.

Professional Experience:

11/14 - 02/15 Leidos Engineering (Tulsa, Oklahoma )

Senior Structural Designer: Employment with an EPC firm in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry. I primarily reviewed drawing documents for client approval and checked and approved construction drawings. Additionally, I designed and drafted drawings utilizing AutoCad 13 and Drawing Set Manager, Adobe PDF, CadWorx generated models, Navisworks and interfaced with Engineers and various engineering design disciplines.

8/13 - 11/13 Polaris Engineering (Lake Charles, Louisiana )

Senior Structural Designer: Worked for an EPC firm in the Oil & Gas, refinery industry. My primary responsibility was reviewing and approving construction drawings utilizing Navis Works 2013 & 3D Model (CadWorx). Additionally, I created design documents for construction of concrete and steel for various clients such as San Antonio Refining, Amarillo Load Pumps and Pipes, Flint Hills Resources, NuStar Pipeline Group and Placid Refining Company. Modifications and new construction for chemical facilities in different phase of design process from preliminary, estimates to design/construction. Structural design & detailing including equipment foundations, piles locations, pumps, tanks, exchangers, pipe racks and misc. structural platforms. I utilized AutoCad 2007, 2010 & 2012.

3/2013 - 6/13 Precision Systems Engineering (Sandy, Utah )

Senior Structural Designer: Worked on a contract basis for a small firm which specialized in minerals processing. Primarily checked construction drawings utilizing Navis Works 2013 & CadWorx. Additionally, I generated construction drawings using Autocad 2012 including performing field work as necessary to support project workflow. I also mentored less experienced designers and drafters.

5/11 - 10/11 C B & I (Houston, Texas)

Senior Civil/Structural Designer: Worked on a contract basis for a firm doing a refinery expansion project in Cartagena, Columbia, South America. My primary responsibility was reviewing steel and concrete shop drawings. Additionally, I checked structural and concrete design construction drawings utilizing SmartPlant.

10/07 – 12/08 B & A Inc. (Kansas City, Missouri)

Civil/Structural Designer: Worked for a firm specializing in engineering and design services in power, industrial and commercial engineering. I was the lead designer on a 290 MW Repowering Project, a quarter of a mile long Pipe Fabrication Plant and three Solar Power Generation Plants in New Mexico. Responsibilities included producing structural and civil design drawings using AutoCad 2008, CADWorx Plant 2008 (3D Modeling) and Navis Works Freedom 2008.

6/07 – 10/07 Black & Veatch ( formerly Pritchard) (Overland Park, Kansas)

Civil/Structural Designer: Worked for the Gas, Oil & Chemical division of this firm on an LNG Regasification project in a moderately supervised position. Primarily responsible for the preparation of construction documents, including concrete, reinforcing, structural steel, site grading, etc. Additionally, checked shop fabricated steel and reinforcing drawings including QA/QC of construction drawings. Utilized Autocad 2005 and Frameworks 3D model softwares in the preparation of engineering design drawings.

1/07 – 5/07 Utility Engineering (Denver, Colorado)

Civil/Structural Designer: Worked a contract basis on a short term, fast tracked project for a firm specializing in providing power plant design services. The project is a single unit 550 megawatt, pulverized coal-fueled facility. I was the lead designer and checker on the project which was completed on schedule and within assigned man-hour budget. Duties included interfacing with project managers, engineers and clients via physical and computer-aided design in production of construction drawings. Utilized AutoCad 2006 on this project.

2004 – 2006 The Engineering Company (Fort Collins, Colorado)

Civil Cad Designer: Performed various duties for this firm, who specialized primaril in water, wastewater treatment, drainage and general civil engineering activities. I worked closely with project engineers in the presentation of construction drawings. Included tasks are design and depiction of grading, water/sewer layout, drainage, roadways, exterior piping plans and structural layout /design. Additional duties included CAD and firm standards, printing and plotting.

2000 – 2003 Lutz, Daily & Brain (Overland Park, Kansas)

Civil Designer/Technician: Consulting engineering firm specializing in power generation and distribution design for utility, industrial and institutional clients. Responsible for design and layout of civil engineering conceptual and final design drawings, and to support engineers in developing design details. Duties included design drafting of reinforced concrete and steel structural systems for subway stations, combined cycle engines, materials handling facilities; topography and drainage systems for existing and new facilities.

1991-2000 Black & Veatch Pritchard (Overland Park, Kansas)

Civil Design Supervisor: Completed projects for all the major oil companies in the international petroleum refining and petro-chemical industry as either a lead or sub-lead. Supervised project designers to ensure the efficient production of project design-drafting within the civil engineering discipline; coordinated design activities with other engineering disciplines. Job duties included making daily work assignments for the drafting portion of the project of which I maintained; deliverables submitted on schedule and within the assigned man-hour budgets. Project details required preparation and updating of the drafting schedule, issuing progress reports, and the completion of work estimates used in overall project cost and schedule control.

1988-1990 Butler Manufacturing Company (Kansas City, Missouri)

Engineering Technician: Organized work, scheduled and monitored completion of orders from receipt to erection of nonresidential multi-story buildings. Duties included conventional steel detailing and checking of all custom and standard parts and erection drawings, inputting orders to computer processing system, quality control check of orders prior to sending for pricing and other coordinated activities between manufacturing, engineering and outside firms. Job required a working knowledge of product, customer requirements, and drafting skills.

1980-1988 Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company (Kansas City, Missouri)

Senior Design Drafter: Created, prepared and checked preliminary sketches and layouts for construction of the structural phases of interstate transmission natural gas facilities. This included compressor and booster stations, liquid terminals, and offshore facilities. In addition, researched, analyzed and calculated various data to create drawings; selected, recorded and coordinated the ordering of equipment and materials used in each construction process.

1974-1980 Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos, New Mexico)

Senior Draftsman: Prepared layout drawings, plans, formulation of details and selection of materials and equipment that involved all aspects of facilities design including:

•Mechanical: HVAC systems, plant layouts, plumbing systems, heating systems, compressors, and lab equipment.

•Electrical: Wiring diagrams and schematics, power distribution, motor control centers, and printed circuit layout.

•Civil: Reinforced concrete, concrete masonry unit and structural systems for existing and new facilities including road, outside utilities and drainage systems.

•Fire Protection: Extensive experience in sprinkler piping layout, including pipe routing, pipe hanger spacing, and determining critical dimensions for installations and clearance.

1973 Aeroject Nuclear Company (Idaho Falls, Idaho)

Draftsman/Technical Aide: (summer internship). Drafted and maintained electronic instrumentation drawings associated with experiments in nuclear reactor testing. Prepared discrepancy reports on current jobs.

Education:

Associates Degree in Technical Drafting - Haskell Indian Nations University - Lawrence, Kansas.
