Second in charge of a municipal Law Department including twelve attorneys and a full investigative and administration staff totaling thirty-five individuals. Duties included serving as council to the Planning Board and handling all of the major zoning and land use issues involved in a town of approximately five hundred-thousand residents. Also served as council to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Assessor’s office as well as handled matters for the Fire Marshalls office and Department of Public Safety and the Industrial Development Agency. Negotiated the acquisition of lands for farmland preservation open space, parkland and drinking water protection.

Suffolk County Department of Real Estate, Hauppauge New York 1999-2006

Deputy Director

Managed the operation of a large municipal real estate department. Negotiated with landowners for the acquisition of land including for open space, farmland preservation, drinking water protection and parkland totaling over fifty million dollars a year. Worked closely with the Suffolk County Police Department on facilities management issues including the development and placement of new precincts and headquarters for the highway patrol to maximize public safety and the efficient operations of the department. Coordinated with commercial real estate brokers and the Department of Public Works personnel to identify properties and negotiate leases for thousands of square feet. Represented the Department before legislative and administrative bodies. Coordinated partnerships for the preservation of land with the Nature Conservancy, the Peconic Land Trust, the State of New York and various towns and villages.

Commenced and defended Article 78 proceedings on behalf of the county Comptroller’s office. Prosecuted numerous family court cases involving child abuse, neglect, paternity, and support matters.
