A $1.2 billion global manufacturer (in Asia) of electronic components for the hearing aid Industry, and silicon microphones, speakers and receivers for cell phones. In 2014 added capacitor and clock oscillator companies to the Knowles portfolio of companies.

Senior Director of Global Purchasing 2009 to September 30, 2015

I directed the procurement function for Knowles Electronics, LLC. This includes plastics, metals, electronic components, capital and indirect spend. Also responsible for the tactical purchasing functions in Malaysia, and China, and Philippines.

Led contract negotiations with a major electronics Inc. which resulted in $1.5 KK annually.

Initiated ‘Pre-buy” and hedging strategies to mitigate commodity risk, in the areas of copper, palladium, and rare earth’s.

2001 35% of direct spend was in Asia, 2006 90% of direct spend is in Asia.

Outsourced manufacturing to China & Malaysia for cost reduction of over $2kk.

Senior Purchasing Manager – Raw Materials (1997-2001)

Managed one purchasing manager, three senior buyers and two clerical personnel in the procurement of all resins, metals and packaging for all U.S. Molex manufacturing facilities. Annually spent $110 million. Responsible for resins worldwide.

Saved $125,000 per year by having the resin supplier install and maintain a silo for nylon resin. This eliminated material handling, reduced lead-time to zero days and inventory costs to zero dollars. Supplier now manages inventory via the Internet.

Consolidated packaging suppliers from nine to four. By aggregating demand and re-quoting, the average cost was reduced by 20% resulting in an annual cost savings of over $200,000.

Reduced inventory and lead times to less than forty-eight hours by setting up “Vendor Managed Inventory”. This reduced leadtime to our customers by 15%.

Purchasing Manager - Resins (1991-1997)

Responsible for all Molex resin purchases in the U.S. and lead negotiator of the Molex Worldwide Purchasing Council.

Led Molex Global Purchase Council in negotiating contracts with General Electric, du Pont and Dow Chemical. As a team this included locations in Europe, U.S. and Asia. These negotiations saved Molex over $1.3 million.

Selected as one of twelve to serve on Molex’s Worldwide ERP Evaluation Committee. Was the representative for the Purchasing module. We selected SAP, which was implemented and increased sales by 12% and reduced inventory by 8%.

Headed up the purchasing section (4.6) of Molex’s QS 9000 initiative. We received accreditation, which increased automotive sales by 20% and improved quality by 10%.

NORTEL OUTSIDE PLANT DIVISION, Morton Grove, IL 1989 to 1991

A multi billion dollar manufacturer of telecommunication equipment.

Managed ten buyer/planners and two clerical positions with an annual materials budget of over $65 million.

Implemented “Supplier Quality Control” which measured supplier performance for quality, on-time delivery and service. This reduced the “Cost of Quality” by 10%.

Reduced leadtime of frames by supplier consolidation and implementation of JIT practices, which increased sales by 17%.

A Motorola “start-up” company which manufactured computers and software for the CIM market.

Materials Manager

Responsible for purchasing, inventory control and transportation. Managed one buyer, one inventory control planner and one shipping person with an annual spending budget of $15 million.

Implemented an MRP11 system, developed materials management procedures so that there were standard processes.

Developed a supply base using Malcolm Baldrige Award Criteria. This assured quality for materials purchased.
