Remote Operator Interface Terminal is a product that involves building an advanced interface control and monitor industrial machineries from a remote place within the factory floor. The machinery was at a distance of about 50m from the control panel. The customer approached us to redesign an existing control panel that has an older style keypad and character displays with modern Touchscreen user interface. The panel communicates with the machine through an RS232 interface in order to deliver the commands given by the user. The display is a LCD panel which shows several operator buttons. Upon a valid button press the MCU detects this and a corresponding command will be issued on the RS232 bus. RS232 communication happens at a baud rate of about 9600. For each RS232 command, a success/failure code will be acknowledged back. Irrespective of the command, the acknowledge packet consists of an 8-bit temperature value, that will be displayed on the screen. The control panel has a timeout period after which the panel goes to a locked state. The user has to unlock the panel using a secret 4-digit numerical code before proceeding with other operations.

Smart Attendance Machine is an RFID based Attendance System that can be used in an Office, Schools, and Colleges. It can handle up to a maximum of 1000 users and the device is designed such that it can be used for user entry only during set time intervals. When a user enters, he must have the card and when it is shown in proximity, the device captures the card details, the time of entry, shows this information on a Graphics LCD to the user and sends it wirelessly to a remote computer that has a Zigbee receiver unit which runs the attendance database software. Upon timeout, the device accepts no further entry and denies any further entry with a buzzer beep sound. The user entry time period can be setup using the matrix keypad after entering a valid admin password.
