SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Assigned to a high profile Shell job in the North Sea which was suffering huge losses due to severe well issues. Worked overtime through the night mixing and pumping multiple LCM pills which eventually slowed the losses substantially. Implemented Versapac© (a rheological additive) which slowed down the flow enough to enable cementing of the well, this solved the well issue and saved Shell over $1 million on further lost oil based mud. The well was subsequently drilled to completion with no further losses.
Challenged with containing, removing and disposing of drill cuttings on a large-scale Chevron project in Kern River, Bakersfield using Sumpless drilling. Designed and implemented a sprinkler / mister system which sprayed water over the shakers as the cuttings passed, removing excess mud and vastly reducing the volume of cuttings requiring treatment and disposal. The client was so impressed that the system was adopted across all the Chevron rigs drilling in the area, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on disposal of the cuttings and chemicals for treatment.
Finished MI Swaco Mud School in top 3 out of 95 and was rapidly promoted from trainee to second engineer after only 2 weeks, working on and successfully completing multiple wells as the night engineer.
CAREER PATH

Leading provider of outsourced engineering and on-site supervision services to the oil & gas industry
Senior Drilling Fluids Consultant
Hired to deliver consulting services to Baker Hughes drilling gas wells in Ohio, W. Virginia and Pennsylvania for Antero Resources.
Drilled high angle wells up to 21,000 feet in problematic zones encountering regular kicks and various rates of losses up to lost circulation using both WBM and OBM.
Managed an air /foam drilling rig in W. Virginia doing underbalanced drilling.
MI Swaco (A Schlumberger Company), Bakersfield, CA April 2012 - April 2014
Leading supplier of drilling fluid systems engineered to improve drilling performance
Drilling Fluids Consultant April 2012 – February 2013 and August 2013 - April 2014
Promoted to Drilling Fluids consultant drilling wells for PXP, Vintage and Chevron on a large scale project in Kern River / Lost Hills oil fields in California, drilled in area with depleted formations.
Key player in all aspects of the project from well planning to completion.
Worked on large land drilling rigs, drilling wells up to 19,000ft, horizontal wells and work-over rigs doing work-over wells and re-drills.
Managed solids control equipment at the rig site, including shakers and centrifuges. Controlled inventory on a daily basis.
Trained rig hands and junior mud engineers the correct and most efficient way to run equipment safely. Shared expertise on running equipment at optimum levels and how to recognize potential well issues.
Worked closely with the cement engineer ensuring all calculations, volumes and transfers were correct and contamination was minimized.
Project Engineer February 2013 - August 2013
Managed the daily fluids needs for 3 Nabors drilling rigs, including planning and preparing mud programs, reviewing daily mud reports and recommending improvements.
Worked closely with mud engineers to ensure operations went smoothly and to ensure that all safety procedures were followed.
Made field sales visits to rig locations, recommending drilling fluid and chemical improvements as required.
Reviewed end-of-well costs and made sure all expenditures were authorized and balanced.
Drilling Fluids Engineer September 2006 - April 2012
Engineered wells for Shell, Conoco Phillips, Chevron, AGR, ADTI, Maersk, CNR, Senergy, Hurricane Exploration and TAQA drilling wells in the UK.
Worked all over the North Sea, Southern North Sea and Irish Sea, including drilling wells in environmentally sensitive areas West of Shetland and the Moray Firth.
Selected as Lead Engineer on the 2.5 year Senergy/TAQA drilling project on the Stena Spey, North Cormorant and Tern Platforms drilling producer/injector wells.
Gained valuable experience in well control issues, stuck pipe, well recaps and rig safety programs.
Managed the planning and mixing of various LCM pills at different loss rates, from seepage to total losses, including use of Versapac and cement.
