~Underground Damage Prevention: To ensure the safety of the excavating community through the promotion of shared responsibility, safe digging practices, the economic review of locate requests and the representing of AEP and its customers with state and local damage prevention agencies.

~Primary function is to process locate requests from the individual state one-call centers. This is done for 3 reasons:

1.To ensure the safety of the homeowner or contractor completing the work

2.To ensure the safety of AEP’s facilities and attempt to avoid undo interruption in delivery of electricity and reliability

3.To benefit the company through financial savings gained by the safe clearing of locate requests that do not involve AEP’s underground facilities.

~Prime responsibility is the research and the assigning or clearing of the locate requests.

~Secondary responsibilities may include answering the customer service line and any peak

or off-peak projects that the UDP Supervisor may assign.
