I am applying for Chemist / Laboratory Technician position.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
I participated in Lab Safety programs and audits, safety of lab techs, equipment and chemical storage.
I have used ASTM, IP, UOP methods.
I have the required education and experience in physical and analytical testing in petrochemical labs.
My computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
I am experienced in multi-tasking and time- management while running the samples.
I have performed routine and non routine tests, reported results via LIMS and created COA’S.
I was involved in the development of new methods, writing SOP’S, calibrations and QA/QC.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
2013 – Present: Working as a Chemist / Lab Tech in a Biodiesel lab.
I was involved in the QC testing of biodiesel. I analyzed the samples for acid number, soap, water, sediments, flash point, cloud point, cold soak, mono, di, tri and total glycerides and oxidation stability. Other responsibilities included creating templates and lab worksheets and ordering lab supplies
2011: Worked as a chemist at Intertek, Texas City, TX – (Contract Position)
I was involved in the physical and analytical testing of crude oil, fuel oil, VGO, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and bio-diesel samples. I tested the samples as per specifications and issued COA
2010: Worked as a Lab Supervisor at Certispec USA, Texas City, TX -Contract
This was an inspection company with a small laboratory. My responsibility as a lab supervisor was to help the lab techs in their daily activities. I also ordered lab supplies, created work-sheets and issued Certificates of Analysis. My responsibility was to make sure all the samples are analyzed as per specifications. I have analyzed Waste Water Samples for Oil and Grease, Dead Bottoms Samples for Bacteria Check, Total Sediments in Residual fuels, Methanol Wall Wash and many more tests.
2008: Worked as a chemist at Camin Cargo, Pasadena, TX – Contract Position)
I have tested the following products: Gasoline, Diesel, Bio-diesel, Jet Fuels, Crude Oils, & Other Petrochemicals. I have performed the following tests: RVP, Distillation, Cu strip, NACE corrosion, Gums, Doctor test, Mercaptans, Sulfur, Benzene (D3606), Oxygenates (D4815), Aromatics (GC-MS and DCPD D5569), Flash pt, Pour and Cloud pt, CFPP, DuPont, Ash, Carbon residue, Viscosity, Water by Karl Fisher, Water by Distillation, BS&W, Sediments, Salt in crude, Lubricity, Smoke point, Oxidation stability, Freeze point. Entered data in LIMS and produced a Certificate of Analysis.
2000 - 2007: Worked as a lab tech at Inspectorate, Pasadena, Texas – Lab Tech
I was involved in the physical and analytical testing of the following products: Crude oil, fuel oil, VGO, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and bio-diesel samples. Tested the samples for copper and silver corrosion, NACE corrosion, viscosities, water by distillation, API, smoke point, sediments, ash, sulfated ash, RVP, distillation, SAYBOLT color, ASTM color, PT_CO color, haze reading, appearance, odor, sulfur, nitrogen, chloride, iodine value, benzene, oxygenates, aromatics. I have used gas chromatographs, HP-5880, Chem. Station and GCMS. Also analyzed Round Robin Samples
I was self employed during May 1997 thru Dec 2000.
A detailed list of the methods, instruments and necessary glass ware needed to perform the tests are listed below
1978 - 1997: Shell Chemical Company, Deer Park, Texas – Sr. Lab Tech
Analyzed C2=, C3=, BB, BD, IP, DCPD, LPG, and water; to make sure the performance of the plant is safe and the environments are clean. Cross trained in Olefins, Environmental, Intermediates and Solvents laboratories to become more adaptable and valuable to the company. I coordinated health and safety issues in the lab to prevent injuries and practice safety at work and home. Also did water, asphalt and GC analysis for olefins samples. I maintained the QC and calibration program for the QC Lab. I was involved in the preparation of ISO audit in 1990.
1973 – 1978: ARAMCO
Worked in the PVT lab. Responsibilities were to collect and analyze samples from water wells, gas oil separator plants and crude oil wells from both on shore and off shore.
Education: BS in Chemistry and I am a USA Citizen
