Skills & Abilities

MANAGEMENT

I have had the opportunity to manage a department within a small mortgage company. While doing so I learned how to assign projects to employees who were most well suited to complete them so as to maximize their time and productivity. I also learned how to communicate and maintain professional working relationships within my department. Teamwork was the foundation of my success and the department’s ability to run as a well-oiled machine.

SALES

I have worked in a sales environment dealing directly with customers and selling the company’s retail brand on a daily basis. In doing so I have learned that it is always best to approach customers with a warm smile and positive attitude. I believe that a key element in sales is providing customers with the help they want and not pressuring customers to buy an item that you want to sell them. Attentive service and a relaxed environment can be helpful in making a retail brand a customer’s preferred brand.

COMMUNICATION

I have learned a multitude of skills and talents from each job I have held, but I believe communication is always the key to success. I have been tasked with providing regular reports, updates, and status of individual projects to my superiors under varying circumstances, but this information is useless if you cannot communicate it clearly and professionally. I have also learned that crucial to communication is the ability to stay calm while speaking to clientele or an individual customer who may be frustrated over an item they purchased or an error in work that was completed for them. The cornerstone of building a long lasting relationship with customers is learning to communicate with them and listen to their expectations of your services.
