Title : Implementation of the parallel port as a serial port, using Bit Banging technique.
Platform : Device Drivers
Duration : 1 Month
Description : Bit banging is a technique for serial communications using software instead of dedicated hardware. Software directly sets and samples the state of pins on the microcontroller, and is responsible for all parameters of the signal: timing, levels, synchronization, etc. In contrast to bit banging, dedicated hardware (such as a modem, UART, or shift register) handles these parameters and provides a (buffered) data interface in other systems.
The aim of the project was to implement IEEE1284 and RS232 standards using an application, such that if data were to be transmitted or received through the parallel port(IBM PC arch.), it can be done through a serial cable, thus converting a parallel port to a serial port. The coding method implemented here is often referred to as "Bit Banging Technique". The application was tested to communicate between PC(IBM arch.) and Atmega128.
Title : Finding Stolen Cars Using RFID technology.
Platform : Embedded System Design
Duration : 1 Month
Description : The main purpose of the concept is to catch the stolen vehicles using RFID Technology. The aim is to develop a smart logic to identify the stolen vehicle on check post or Toll base. We issue one unique identification code to every vehicle. This unique number is stored in the silicon chip and the chip is installed in the vehicle. This code is also stored in the Data base of check post or Toll base. Now when any vehicle reaches the toll booth, an alarm is generated and the gate remains closed.
Title : Banking Application
Platform : Hardware Platforms (ARM, AVR etc)
Duration : 1 Month
Description : The purpose of this project was to implement some functionality of an ATM machine using on NXP-LPC2148 board. The user was supposed to enter his Account ID and Password at the time of login. The user details were displayed on the terminal, greeted on the LCD and allowed to Credit/Debit his account as needed. If the time after login went beyond 3 minutes, an interrupt was generated and Time out message was displayed.
