The MSI client project involved replacement of Exceed Client (Mainframes) with MSI Client (.Net) so that both upstream and downstream applications can be integrated seamlessly to interact with Client data on a daily basis. Exceed Client System and MSI Client will co-exist for a period of time and that the Exceed Client System will eventually be retired. Exceed client consisted of three layers - Interfaces, CRU (Create, Retrieve and Update) and DAL (Data Access Layer). Various systems in Geico insurance domain such as Policy, Sales, Rating, Claims, Client, Auto, Cycle etc. would interact with MSI client Service and CRU Client UI application to perform CRUD operations on the Client data. Client Interfaces deals with formatting of data in COBOL copybooks to .Net objects and fields, perform data validations, mapping client data to database fields, business logic to handle relationships between client data, calling CRU methods to perform CRUD operations and mapping the response back to COBOL copybooks. CRU has extensive business logic to validate complex relationships between client data, make calls to DAL methods. CRU service also processes requests for an external Web Application which exposes a UI for Data Fixes and perform operations like RECON and De-RECON. DAL as the name suggests handles all the Data Access logic along with SQL query performance and optimizations.
