BRRF – SRU Expansion

Rice MACT Projects

There are actually three projects that fall under this title. This project consists of adding diesel engines at three units to comply with governmental regulations. One unit was getting a new diesel fuel tank as the existing tank was not large enough to meet the design premise. The deliverables consisted of populating the process information on the equipment datasheet and updating P & I D’s to reflect scope of work.

PAPA Project for Shell Global at Port Allen, Louisiana

Provided process design for an activated alumina plant in Port Allen, LA. The deliverables consisted of populating the process information in the line list and an INTools database for instruments, hydraulic calculation spreadsheets for piping major systems, documentation of equipment and P&ID/MOC Log changes, and documentation of safeguard memorandum information.

Alkylation Unit Upgrade - Alkylation Unit for Motiva at Norco, LA

Designed and specified the necessary equipment and instrumentation needed to collect and transport waste/storm water from the Alkylation Unit to the Waste Water Storage Tank. The deliverables consisted of populating the process information on the equipment and instrument datasheets, updating P & I D’s to reflect scope of work, hydraulics study for the sump and storm water storage tank pumps.

Retractable Injection Quill - Distillation Unit 5 for Motiva at Norco, LA

Designed and specified a retractable injection quill for the Vacuum Flash Ejectors in the DU-5 Unit. This new quill allows for cleaning without the unit being shutdown to remove the quill. The deliverables consisted of populating the process information on the injection point datasheet and marking up the P & I D’s.

MTBE Phase Out Option Study - Butylene Lines for Motiva at Norco, LA

Performed hydraulic study to determine options for transporting butylenes from the refinery to

the West Site and the associated cost of each option. The deliverables consists of developing and

documenting options along with cost estimate of each option.

Temporary Tank Replacement for K-562 Caustic Tank for Motiva at Norco, LA

Verified that the existing portable tank on site is made of a suitable material of construction for 8% Spent Caustic service. The deliverables consisted of verifying with the tank vendor that the existing tank was compatible through written communication to the Motiva Logistics personnel.

DSM Elastomers America (Formerly DSM Copolymer) Addis, LA

Senior Process Engineer, Plant Staff 2000-2005

Provided technical support in the manufacturing of synthetic rubber, evaluated manufacturing parameters, capital review of processes, and evaluated and solved customer complaints.

Served as Notification of Change (NOC) Gatekeeper insuring operations complied with all

OSHA & ISO guidelines.
