Plant Engineer

Responsible for maintenance and day-to-day operational excellence of 160,000 square foot thermoforming facility.

Managed Maintenance and Tooling departments consisting of 24 technicians.

Responsible for estimating, quoting and managing all Capital Projects in the Waynesville facility as well as managing Capital Projects in the Chillicothe, Missouri facility. Projects ranged in cost from $50,000 to $7,000,000

Developed annual cost saving projects and process improvements to increase profitability. Each project resulted in a net savings of at least $100,000 annually

Maintained the facility to meet food industry cleanliness and organizational standards as well as specific customer audit demands.

Managed and controlled $4,000,000 maintenance and tooling budget

Worked closely with Plant Controller to maintain and accurately report production rates, labor allocation and inventory accuracy.

Managed projects such as bar code system for shop floor production entry, finished goods inventory management, shipping details and automated invoicing. Also implemented real time OEE data capture at three facilities with automated daily production reporting.

Managed multiple automation projects including robotic palletization, automated labelling, conveyor systems for finished goods movement and process data capturing and reporting systems.

Managed the expansion of the Waynesville, NC facility. This was a building expansion and relocation of existing production lines to facilitate the addition of two production lines.

Implemented CMMS system to capture true spare parts and labor costs to maintain each production line as well as all facility equipment.

1990-2003 Environ Products Smithfield, NC

Engineering Manager

Managed up to 6 engineers and daily activities involving all new product design, test fixtures, and production effectiveness.

Researched, purchased and installed CNC lathes and mills, extrusion equipment, rubber molding presses, screw machines and metal stamping equipment.

Managed and directed evaluation and relocation of assets obtained in an acquisition of a gasoline dispenser manufacturer.

Responsible for all new product development and prototyping.

Managed all Underwriters Laboratory approval for new products.

Worked closely with major customers developing products to fit their needs while maintaining a high level of production and assembly standardization.

Trained distributors and contractors on the proper installation and use of all company products.
