The Neighborhood Academy
• Created syllabi for three history classes (AP US History I, AP US History II, World History II) and 12th grade English
• Facilitated classroom lessons, both discussion-based and lecture-based
• Wrote and instructed AP US History course into which all 11th and 12th grade students were tracked
• Differentiated instruction for students with a variety of abilities in three grades with a wide range of abilities

Writing Clinic Tutor (2008-2010)

• I was tasked with helping students, many of whom were non-native English speakers or had learning disabilities, edit their undergraduate papers. This included reading, annotating and commenting on students’ papers as well as offering instruction on complex grammatical concepts and usages. Students were also instructed on maintaining the college’s writing standards on citation and format (Chicago, MLA, APA).
• My duties also included administrative work, including record keeping, scheduling, time management, and maintaining the college’s standards of academic integrity.
Substitute Teacher (February 2010- May 2010)
Rutland School District, Kelly Services
• I served a variety of schools on an on-call basis, providing coverage when teachers, aides, or other school faculty and staff were absent.
• I worked as a traditional classroom teacher, one-on-one aide to students with documented learning disabilities, as well as temporarily filling other necessary positions, such as that of librarian.
Upward Bound Residential Mentor (2008-2009)
• I acted as a member of a team tasked with supervising and mentoring 40-50 high school students in the federally funded Upward Bound Summer Program. Part of the TRiO program, Upward Bound offers challenging college preparatory experience to high school students who are from low-income homes and/or students’ whose parents without post-secondary education. In this position I acted as an academic tutor in a variety of subjects. Additionally, I supervised academic instruction, structured and monitored extracurricular activities, and provided counseling and support. I provided 24 hour supervision and support for six weeks of Monday through Friday residential program as well as on two, four day field trip to major US cities (Philadelphia, PA and Buffalo, NY)
• I was responsible for a group of 6-10 students on a daily basis, supervising academic performance, social interactions, nutrition, etc.

Milton Middle School Special Education Department
• I was tasked with acting as a long-term substitute in a to-be-hired position as an Instructional Assistant in the Special Education department at Milton Middle School. In this position, I worked with students with a variety of documented learning disabilities. This work was conducted within the parameters of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) created by the special education director and parents of students in the Special Education Program. I acted as an Instructional Assistant in a variety of academic subjects providing support at a one-on-one level as well as with students integrated into a traditional classroom.
Academic Achievements
Editor of University of Vermont Historical Review Journal (Fall 2012)
• I acted as part of a team to read, evaluate, and edit undergraduate and graduate student papers in the field of history for the University of Vermont’s student-run, student-produced scholarly journal, winner of two Phi Alpha Theta awards for number one scholarly journal of its type in the US. As a member of this team of editors, I helped decide which student essays were included in the UVM Historical Review.
Phi Alpha Theta (2010)
• I was a Spring 2010 inductee for the National History Honors Society (Phi Alpha Theta), representing the achievement of a minimum of twelve credit hours in the field of history with a GPA of 3.1 or higher in history or a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the undergraduate level.
