Boskalis Offshore (formerly Offshore Kinematics Inc.), Houston, TX February 2013 - Present Senior Mechanical Engineer
Responsible for concept and detailed engineering, field testing and supervision/inspection of steel and rubber component fabrication for float-over hardware utilized in offshore platform installations.
Designed float-over hardware equipment to meet particular requirements for multiple clients in accordance with ASTM and API structural steel codes using SOLIDWORKS
Actively involved in factory acceptance testing using a hydraulic test press to analyze deflection of rubber elastomer bearing pads
Performed various structural calculations including stress, strain, bending, weld sizing and bolted joint connections using MathCAD
Developed and performed a procedure for analyzing deflection, buckling and hysteresis heating for multiple elastomer bearing pads utilizing hyperelastic material characterization in ABAQUS
Managed and acted as technical lead for an engineering subcontractor for 6 months reviewing design reports, overseeing project schedule and analyzing project costs CD-Adapco, Structural/Thermal Engineering Services, Houston, TX May 2011 – February 2013 Senior Engineer
Performed in-depth FEA analyses for various clients including Pratt & Whitney, Chevron, Eaton and GE.
Created multiple node-to-node hexahedral, tetrahedral and hybrid meshes for various clients using PROFE, HYPERMESH, ANSYS and ABAQUS
Generated both steady-state and transient thermal analyses of rear wheel braking assembly for Daimler using STAR-CCM+
Performed modal, static and dynamic analyses for multiple jet engine programs for Pratt & Whitney using ANSYS
Prepared stress and strain analysis for jet engine bird strikes using LS-DYNA
Performed harmonic vibration and low cycle fatigue analysis on multiple heat exchanger configurations for Marston Aerospace
Sean Bhise Page Two
Created a program that modeled, meshed, and analyzed stress on various jet engine bolted flange connection configurations using ANSYS APDL
Designed and programmed a Graphical User Interface, using JAVA, to be used interactively with UG NX
Mercedes-Benz USA, Montclair, NJ May-August 2008
Intern, Product Management Luxury SUVs
Responsible for competitive comparisons, volume analysis and sales reports. Developed various product presentations associated with the M-class and GLK-class.
Worked with Senior Managers from five car-lines, and a team from Digital Marketing, to develop a consistent product reference guide. Led multiple group meetings to determine significant product features. Organized and selected proper features to be listed for each carline. Result: Shortly after my 3-month internship, the reference guide was approved and sent out to the New York/New Jersey area dealerships.
Developed marketing/promotional strategy for Mercedes’ new GLK-Class SUV for the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Analyzed many different proposals from various after-market tuner/concept companies. Developed a competitive comparison analysis; spoke directly with multiple companies about their proposals; and assisted in the final selection process. Result: Four companies were chosen to create their own after-market version of the GLK, all of which were revealed at the SEMA show.
PURDUE UNIVERSITY RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Cube Satellite Research, West Lafayette, IN August - December 2010 Research Project Member
Designed and built a clean room enclosure for CubeSAT hardware testing
Optimized design of 1U CubeSAT in order to achieve desired center of gravity
Modeled orbit trajectory of satellite around the Earth using STK9 Senior Design Project August - December 2008
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Design Project Team Leader
Designed and created computer model of an aircraft, based on many different calculations; assigned and delegated tasks to a group of five engineers weekly; delivered presentations on different aspects of the aircraft each week for 8 weeks; selected electronics and materials needed to meet a strict $200 budget, Result: Within four months, our team successfully designed, built and flew the aircraft, while meeting all design and budget criteria. Water Tunnel Research July - November 2007
Undergraduate Research Project
Designed and built a water-flow visualization tunnel with a graduate student partner. Conducted research to determine proper design and measurements; created a computer model of the water tunnel; and selected materials to meet budget constraints. Result: The water tunnel is currently fully functional, and is being used in Purdue’s Fluid Mechanics laboratory to help undergraduate students gain a stronger understanding of fluid mechanics.
