Worked on the FEED side of BHP project.It is a big Potash Mining Project located in Saskatchewan. Work includes writing some Electrical Specs, developing Standard Schematic Wiring Diagrams for VFD motors, medium and low voltage motors, and some typical wiring diagrams. Work also includes doing some Material Take-offs, lighting, grounding and cable tray layouts. Did some 3D modeling of trays and lights using Smart Plan 3D software.

Worked on the North Atlantic Oil refinery rehab project. Work includes preparation of grounding, cable tray, lighting, power layout schematics and connection wiring diagrams, standard installation deatails and other related functions. Works also include heat tracing calculation using Thermon Computrace software.

Was involved in the Electrical Design of Petro Canada RCP project in Edmonton Alberta.. Responsibilities includes checking all electrical drawings such as cable tray layouts, power and grounding layouts, lighting layouts, single line diagrams and schematic wiring diagrams for accuracy and conformance. Work also involved coordination with other disciplines and with Bantrel who is doing the same job in parallel to our project. Works also include coordination with construction and do some site visit and inspection.

Involved in the design of Alcoa Aluminum Plant in Jamaica. Responsibility includes preparation of single line diagrams, control wiring diagrams, P @ID design and drafting, using Micro Station Plant Space. Also did some load analysis calculations and wrote specs for 480V MCC. Started doing cable tray layouts using PDS raceway software.

Involved in the design of Heat Tracing System of Petro Canada Rehab Refinery in Montreal Plant. Responsibilities includes heat tracing calculations, control schematics, single line and cable block diagrams, writing some field orders and some drafting using Auto Cad version 2002. Also involved in the design of Desulphurization system of Suncor refineries in Sarnia Ontario. Involved in doing some electrical installation details.

Electrical Designer (Nov. 2002-May 31,2004)

Dupont Canada, Whitby ( Through Roan International)

Presently doing some rehab works on existing Nylon Extruders. Rehab works includes replacement of existing old controllers with Modicon PLC. Responsibilities includes preparation of equipment layout, single line diagrams, schematics wiring diagrams, PLC I/O and all related works. Also directly involved in the revamp of the power distribution system that includes addition of one 5 MVA transformer, one section of 4.16KV switchgear and one 600V MCC. Capacitor banks and controllers are also added as a part of the project. Works also include field supervision in actual installation.

SENIOR Electrical Designer (April 2002- Oct. 2002)

Did some rehabilitation works at Imperial Oil Refinery Plant. Work includes preparation of single line diagram, schematic wiring diagrams, power layouts, cable tray layout,heat tracings layout, lighting and all related works. All the jobs done are on classified areas. Work also includes writing electrical specs.

Works on Apotex project on a very short duration. It is the tail end of a Pharmaceutical project.

Works on preliminary design of a 25 MW Cogen station. Work includes preparation of

Preliminary Substation grounding, equipment layout for the 4KV and 13.8KV switchgear,

and development of standard schematic wiring diagrams. Project was postponed.

General Motors of Canada Ltd. Truck Plant (Through Ian Martin & Associates)

Worked in the General Assembly Engineering group. Responsibility includes

preparation of schematic wring diagrams, connection wiring diagrams, cable block

diagrams, single line diagrams, writing some PLC logic and all related works in the

Engineering of the new truck plant. Was involved in the installation of all new equipment for the

new model 2001 truck using the latest technology that includes servo drives, variable frequency

drive, laser technology, using PLC 5 as the main processor. Responsibilities include engineering

support for maintenance in the trouble shooting of all related equipment. Familiar with all

drawings using Auto-Cad Release 2000.

Electrical Coordinator (June 1994 – November 1994)

Involved in the construction of new Primer Surfacer system of GM Truck Plant Paint Shop in

Oshawa, Ontario. Responsibilities include reviewing and approval of all processes equipment,

Electrical drawings, quality control of all process and facility systems in conformance to

specifications, verify construction workmanship practices, coordinate and minimize interference

with plant operation, participate in start-up and commissioning, and acceptance test of process

equipment such as paint robots, articulate blow-off systems, electrostatic rotary atomizer system

(bells), feather dusters, air supply houses and conveyors. Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC 5

system

Sr. Electrical Designer (March 1994 – May 1994)

Shaw Pipe Industries

Involved in the design of FOB (Fusion Bond Epoxy) system. Directly involved in the design of single line diagrams, schematic wiring diagrams, connection wiring diagrams and cable block diagrams. Did all the drawings using Auto Cad Release 11.

Involved in the rehabilitation works on four (4) 500 MW generating station of Ontario Hydro’s Lambton Plant Rehab replacing all existing controllers with Bailey Infi 90 Network. Work includes preparation of single line, three line diagrams, elementary and schematic wiring diagrams, connection wiring diagrams of the generator, boiler, turbine, 230 kV breaker and 4 kV breakers. Work also includes preparation of loop diagrams, interface wiring to Bailey DCS controller, preparation of DCS Mimic control panel and all field connections.

Involved in the preparation of single line diagrams, three line diagrams, DC schematic wiring, and cable block diagrams of the generator and 230kV breaker and transformer protection. Do some on-line wiring on the generator protection side. Was seconded to Ontario Hydro Field Design team as a Field Engineer doing coordination works on the relay room BTG room, exciter, 230kV transformers and breakers and the 4.16 kV switchgear. Responsibilities also includes solving wiring problems in the field, and assisting Protection and Control personnel in the setting and calibration of relays and metering equipment. Bailey DCS was also used in this rehabilitation work.

Facilities Engineer (Nov. 1988 – Mar. 1990)

Chrysler Canada Ltd.

Responsible for all new electrical installation in the plant from construction to actual commissioning, e.g. .480v sub-station, waste water treatment plant, tire balancer, spray booth deluge system, paint mix room, fire deluge system, articulate blow-off system, air make system, etc. Responsibilities include maintenance of all electrical services in the plant. Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC.

Electrical Designer (Sept. 1984 – Oct. 1988)

General Motors of Canada Truck Plant (Through Ian Martin & Associates)

Directly involved in the design of the new body shop, involving the use of sixty eight robots, eight hard automation lines, electrified monorails transfer, power and free conveyors, all of them being run by Allen Bradley’s PLCs. Responsibilities include the approval of vendors’ drawings, to make sure that it is within the GM specifications, in-house visit of various build shops in the States that build the hard automation lines, and prepare the actual plant installation drawings. Involved in the design of all electrical services for the various hard automation lines from the substation to the point of utilization. Directly involved in the design of the Car-trac system, using forty (40) robots, weld controllers, and Allen Bradley PLC 3. Assisted other engineers in the development of program for the system, and developed a standard drawing that interfaced the robot with the weld controller and the PLC 3 controller. Wrote program for some in-house build conveyors using PLC 2/30. Involved in the actual debugging and assisted Engineers and Electricians in solving some wiring and logic problems. Very familiar with all kinds of variable frequency drives, GMF & Cinci robots, microprocessors, weld controllers and Modicon PLC’s.

Involved in the disgn and development of prototype STX machine, a spinning, texturing experimental machine. Work includes preparation of all Electrical and Instrumentation drawings such as loop diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, single line diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, power layout, instrument layout, lighting layout, and other related functions. Involved in the design of Engineering Resins and compounding plants where the KEVLAR compound was developed. Also involved in some revamp works on paint plants

Responsible for the design of single line diagrams elementary wiring diagrams, and connection wiring diagrams for prepared specifications for Ontario Hydro thermal hydraulic generating station. These diagrams cover all electrical equipment from the main power system to the associate auxiliary equipment and power schemes. Supervises Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Draftsmen. Checks their work for accuracy and is also involved in coordinating with Ontario Hydro engineering department to keep up-to-date with revision and modifications.
