Chief Human Resources Officer

Chief HR officer for Confluence Health, Wenatchee WA. Confluence Health was formed as a result of the affiliation of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center and Central Washington Hospital. The resulting organization consists of two hospitals, over two hundred employed physicians and 3000 employees. Phase I of the affiliation was effective January 1, 2013. Phase II which involves additional regulatory approvals occurred in July 2013. In addition to all human resources functions, also responsible for the following corporate functions: education, workers compensation, employee health, marketing and communications, volunteers and pastoral care. Analyzed turnover and developed an incentive/ retention bonus program resulting in the nurse vacancy rate improving from 20% to less than 10%. Estimated annual savings 600K.

Implemented position control procedures for monitoring the vacancy and replacement of all budgeted FTE’s in the organization resulting in the fiscal year FTE’s within budget while improving the hiring process efficiency and communication.

Developed a recruitment campaign that began in January 2006 and hired more than 50 nurses in approximately three months time.

Changed providers and negotiated rates for LTD, STD and Life Insurance that resulted in savings of approximately 20% for enhanced coverage.

The workers compensation experience was excellent at DRMC as evidenced by a WC Experience Mod factor of .77 - which resulted in premium rebates in 2005.

Developed training modules and personally provided training to managers. Topics include coaching employees, managing customer service, effective discipline, and compliance topics.

Implemented a management incentive plan which is currently in reorganization.
