This is a corporate level purchasing manager position responsible for negotiating agreements for procurement of energy (gas & electric), MRO commodities and services for the 72 Sun Chemical sites in North America.

Maintenance Superintendent & Facility Manager (7/98 – 9/2007)

Sun Chemical Company, Cincinnati, Ohio

Responsible for Plantwide Maintenance with 3.5 million dollar budget; The Department consists of 32 mechanics, 4 storeroom clerks, 4 boiler operators and 4 supervisors. The 4 supervisors consist of 1 Planner, 2 Floor Supervisors, Utility Engineer and a Reliability Engineer.

Accomplishments:

• Implemented structured planning of daily work and scheduling of mechanics.

• Implemented preventive maintenance program. Increased equipment uptime by 15%.

• Implemented reliability maintenance program. Created Reliability Engineer position and assigned mechanics to that person for training and job assignments. Projecting more than $500K in savings in 2005. This is the first full year of this program. All accomplished using existing resources.

• Developed maintenance indicators (metrix) and use to identify & target problem areas.

• Six Sigma Green Belt – Completed 3 successful projects.

• Changed maintenance apprentice program from self instructed course to instructor base course at Cincinnati State Technical College.

Design and set up systems that monitor production equipment condition and product quality. Correlate the information to variations in quality or mechanical defects. Set the systems up for operators ease of use. In this position my home was my central office. My area covered was everything west of the Mississippi River and Asia.

• Research and implement methods for calculating equipment mechanical problems and quality variation problems.

• Worked closely with customers to tailor fit equipment for customer needs.

• Responsible for technical presentations during sales visits.

Maintenance Supervisor (1987-1996)

International Paper, Mobile, AL.

Maintenance indicators reporting and millwide shutdown planner. Responsible for proper maintenance procedures being followed and the coordination of all departments during the millwide shutdown.

Accomplishments:

• Maintenance supervisor responsible for three paper machines.

• Machine runability increase project. Part of a team that worked towards the increase in machine uptime without using capital dollars. Two million dollars a year savings.

• Maintenance Information System. Project leader during the installation of the computer maintenance system. Consisting of an online work order system, spare parts system, equipment repair costing system, etc…

• Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for all shift maintenance, machine shop and general labor crews. This included scheduling of hourly employees, supervisors, budgets, and safety.

• Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for plant preventive maintenance and lubrication programs. This includes supervising hourly employees, writing specific PM routes and documentation. Responsible for mill wide shutdown planning.

Maintenance Foreman (1980 – 1987)

• Maintenance Foreman. Responsible for process area maintenance. Responsibilities included; daily schedule for mechanics, planning jobs and ordering parts, safety, preventive maintenance of area, supervising employees and daily interaction with the process supervisors. Supervised in pulp mill, paper machines, and shops areas.
