Project 11 – Smart Meter Billing systems
Description:
Electric and Gas Meters in Southern California are being replaced by an automated network of “Smart” electronic meters equipped with communication equipment that allow a two way interaction between the utility and the meters at the customer’s premise. This technology can read both gas and electric meters automatically at regular intervals. It also allows the utility company to communicate to the meter and send customers information about energy prices and the community's overall energy use situation.
The benefits of the project include:
Demand/response control that helps the utility company to reduce peak energy usage.
Improved customer service.
Improved management and faster resolution of Electric or Gas outages.
Reduced need to access customer property.
Availability of real time energy usage information that would help customers have better control over their usage
The project involves major enhancements and modifications to the existing IT systems to be compatible with the Smart meters. All installed Smart meters communicate with a centralized Collection Engine which in turn relays the meter data to a Meter Data Management System (MDMS). This system filters, processes and sends the data to the Host Mainframe. The data is then processed by the Meter Reading / Measurements, Service Orders, and Billing systems on the mainframe. These three critical mainframe systems are undergoing extensive enhancements to handle real time processing of meter data.
Responsibilities:
Direct client Interactions for requirement gathering
Played key role in creation of Smart meter Interval data load process (MDMS to CISCO), building Smart meter interval data aggregation and Rebate/Rebill Processes for Smart Meter Billing System
Gained strong knowledge on interaction between Customer/1 System and MDMS
Hands on experience with CIS billing systems
Designed and Build various web interfaces program between CISCO-MDMS and Head-End systems using RDZ tool
Convert data to/from XML; build SOAP messages and Invoke Web services
Performed Performance testing for Web Services
Designed and Developed Remote Meter Configuration process between CISCO and Head-End System using COBOL, DB2, RDZ, AXG, Layer 7
Worked directly with ITRON for system integration between CISCO and MDMS
Played Key Role in various Smart meter Implementations (Metes and Measurements, Service orders and smart meter Billing projects)
Design and construction of efficient programs
Coordinate and participate in testing efforts at all levels like Unit testing, application testing, string testing, integration testing, End to End Testing and UAT

Project 9 – Galleria Optura Next Gen
Description:
Galleria is a 3rd-party tool that is used to aid analysts in making assortment decisions. Analysts look at 6 key characteristics when considering the assortment mix: Brand, Flavor/Scent, Form, Size, Product Type, and Package. Through the manual analysis of these characteristics in conjunction with other key performance factors, Client may decide to carry or not carry particular items to their assortment. Currently 3 vendors are sending the details to Client for Galleria analysis. As part of this project we need to retire the process of one of the existing vendors and also incorporate the new vendor along with existing vendors.

Project 7 – Flexible Spending Account card project
Description:
IRS has issued various tax favored cards such as Health Saving account card (HSA), Health Reimbursement card (HRA), Flexible Spending card (FSA) etc. These cards can be used at the various retail store locations to purchase qualified medical expenses.
Currently accepts the FSA cards at the stores for items labeled as FSA in the POS system and the reimbursements are automated. HSA cards are also currently accepted in all US stores. But there is no item level validations happening for HSA at stores. Customers have to manually submit the sales receipt for reimbursement to 3rd party. Client is not directly involved.
Prior to 2008, HSA and FSA were mutually exclusive and could not both be offered.
In December 2007, IRS introduced a new combo health plans with both HSA and *LIMITED* (perhaps vision and dental only) FSA components.
These Combo (HSA + FSA) healthcare plans require an Rx sub-sub-total, as they need to make sure OTC (Over the Counter items – need not have a prescription) items are not purchased under the limited FSA purse. The plans can use the additional Rx sub-sub-total to ensure the HSA purse handles the Rx portion of purchases, while the FSA purse handles the non-Rx OTC portion
