EXPERIENCE
I have held various positions in the medical field including Navy Corpsman, CNA, med tech,
ER tech and Unit Clerk. I have experience caring for various types of patients and have worked in many areas including ER, PACU, ICU, telemetry, oncology and palliative care. I have a vast medical vocabulary and experience taking vital signs, feeding, dressing, bathing patients, charting, obtaining medical histories, arranging emergent and non emergent transport, contacting outside physicians and facilities, 1:1 close observation, registering outpatients, inputting data and orders, pharmacy and floor stock, organizing records and putting together charts, scheduling lab, tests, appointments with ancillary departments, answering multiple phone lines, working with Hospice and dying patients and their families, keeping open communication with senior staff and floor nurses to ensure patient satisfaction and safety. As med tech I was responsible for passing medicine, counting the med cart, checking blood sugars and administering insulin. As ER tech I was responsible for starting IV’s, inserting catheter’s, wound care and transport of patients. I was also a “super user” when we instituted electronic charting system throughout the hospital and was responsible for teaching staff and physicians.
