Operations Manager

Oversee infrastructure projects and day-to-day activities supporting over 12,000 Wintel Servers. Technologies supported include all versions of Windows, Active Directory, SharePoint, Exchange, SQL Clusters and VMware.

Completed integration efforts from ING to COF. Integrated teams and align to COF Support models. Managed and transitioned work efforts to supported teams.

Developed process to reduce and track over 5000 Windows 2003 Servers that were EOL.

Project lead to migrate acquisitions into supported Domains.

Support Plano TX Data Center closing, migrate about 5000 Servers using PlateSpin.

Primary responsibilities support all versions of Window Servers, Active Directory, Server hardware installation, hardware maintenance, Air Watch phone and tablet Support, Blackberry Servers and devices, Microsoft DNS, Vmware, Microsoft Security Patching, File and Print Shares, Symantec archiving application. A secondary responsibility was Exchange and Citrix infrastructure.

NORTEC COMMUNICATIONS, Wayne, PA 2010-2011

Project Management/Operations Manager

Relocated Production Environment to new facility. Ordered firewalls, network switches, rails, provisioning power and rack space, etc., elaborated work effort and coordinated all activities involved. Project came in on budget and on time.

Supported day-to-day operations and infrastructure for 20 developers and five technicians in support of public SharePoint 2010 website. Technologies supported SharePoint 2010, Exchange 2010, SQL, Windows 2008 R2 running HyperV, Clusters, SCCM (Patch Management), Firewall, DPM Backups, Network and Security. Managed all changes and SharePoint deployments coordinated through Change Management System.

Developed and implemented Backup and DR strategy.

Participated in new code deployments.

ROHM AND HAAS COMPANY/DOW CHEMICAL, Philadelphia, PA 1996-2010

Team Lead Windows, Storage and Backup Groups (2002-2010)

Group Leader for 14 team members for three different teams. Day-to-day responsibilities for EMC Storage environment with over 650 TB of storage supporting SAP dB’s, NAS, TSM disk pools, VMware, Unix and Windows Servers. Embraced opportunity to plan, schedule, establish timeline, identify key resources, and execute priority IT projects. Coordinated application deployment process by securing requirements from users and directing users to appropriate technical support personnel. Provided Leadership, Development and Performance Management for all 14 team members.

Migrated Data Center to newly built Disaster Recovery site. Migrated or installed following equipment: Brocade 48000 SAN switches, DMX 4500, redirect/redesign SRDF replication, 225 Wintel Virtual and Physical Servers, Unix Servers, Celera NAS, Clariion, Tape Library and associated TSM servers in $4M project.

Architect, planned, tested and implemented replacement hardware for Tier2 environment. Evaluated different vendor products and selected best solution for R&H. Products tested, IBM SVC, Shark disk technology, various Dedupe vendors, SAN switch technology, EMC and other smaller NAS vendors. Project cost more than $2M and was implemented on time and within budget

Architect/redesigned TSM environment. Installed four new TSM instances, redesigned backup policies from lessons learned from old design. Evaluated new Dedupe technology from multiple vendors to determine opportunity to reduce backups/restore windows. Design included purchasing two new IBM tape libraries and migrated about 1000 backup jobs to new environment resulting in $800K saving over three year period.

Refreshed Tier 1 environment replaced DMX 3 and upgraded to DMX4500. Over 500 TB of storage, 200 servers, both UNIX and Wintel. Cost savings over $1M over three year period.

Implemented physical to virtual migration strategy for 200 Wintel servers. Migrated over 200 physical servers to virtualized VMware environment.

Implement VMware infrastructure for production. Made VMware standard platform for all new applications after running VMware in developmental environment for one year. Designed and implemented infrastructure to support growing needs including infrastructure in Disaster Recovery site. Design included automated process to recover critical applications at DR site within one hour.

Guided Windows team in support of over 1200 servers worldwide hosting technologies such as file and print services, Active Directory, VMware, Citrix, SMS, IIS, ISA and Active Directory.

Negotiated disk on demand agreement with EMC. Agreement saved Rohm and Haas time and money for procuring additional storage from EMC. About 80 TB of usable disk was preinstall and available at declining price from vendor. This saved time and money when projects demanded permanent or temporary storage.

Implemented Citrix solution for remote access to SAP systems which estimated as over $350K annually savings in Network connectivity costs. Implemented procedure for securing Administrative passwords and ensured regularly changed to avoid being compromised.

Developed SWOT process to quickly react to outages and threats to key infrastructure and applications. Automated call handling to notify key personnel based on outage type.

Windows Engineer/Active Directory Administrator 1996-2002

Supported server OS, Hardware/Software and various applications globally. Designed and implemented upgrade from Novel Directory Services 4.1 to Windows Active Directory. Participated in four-man rotation for 24x7 Global Support for Windows, Active Directory, IIs, Citrix and desktop access issues.

Migrated all Apple Talk print services over to Novell printing services.

Migrated Novell NDS v4.1 to Windows Active Directory. Retired all Novell servers and migrated to Microsoft platform solution.

Designed and implemented automated Server build process.

Designed and implemented backup and restore policy to recover files and specific Active Directory objects.

Deployed Windows 2000 Active Directory Servers to 120 sites worldwide providing Windows authentication, file and printing servers. Developed process and procedures for worldwide deployment.

Redesigned Active Directory to optimize authentication and replication traffic for maximum efficiency.

Created standard operating procedures, for first level support analysts, to aid in diagnosis of common Citrix end user issues resulting in first call resolution and elimination of need for second and third level support.

Windows/Novel Engineer (1994-1996)

Provided administrative support for all Windows NT 3.51, NT 4.0 Windows 2000 and Novel servers including user administration, file and print services and backup/restore responsibilities.

Upgraded from Novel 3.11 to V4.1 and migrated to Novel Directory Services.
