PROJECT EXAMPLE 1
MedUSA – Medical Electronic Patient Care Reporting
Managed project development of an electronic patient care reporting system (ePCR), resulting in real-time wireless cellular transmission of medical reports to the Fire Department server.
Leveraged the Bluetooth technology in the LifePaks defibrillator to transmit relevant patient data directly to first responder’s laptop, and also leveraged the receiving hospital’s wireless technology, allowing a report to be printed by the first responder for the hospital’s patient record.
Partnered with the City’s Medical Director to integrate medical protocols into the computer software for one-click reporting.
Conceptualized an interface between the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and the MedUSA software that allowed all relevant call data to be directly downloaded into the call. This interface was later written by the vendor and incorporated into the project plan.
Worked closely with Medicare, Medicaid and the billing vendor to create a billing extract that ensured that all transport bills sent out were accurate and timely, significantly improving accounts receivable.
Established a Public Safety Circuit with Verizon to ensure that all ePCR tablets were a top priority for connectivity during a disaster. This was tested during Hurricane Wilma and our tablets had an average uptime of 99% during the storm and for weeks after during the rebuilding.
Honored by Broward General Hospital and the City Commission in recognition of outstanding project results.
