Manufacturing Engineer

• Approx. 6 month contract as a manufacturing/design engineer using Solidworks and FeatureCAM. I designed machine fixtures for HAAS/KIT Mills to produce the new SOLO Handle design, among others.

• My primary task was to obtain $100K/yr in cost of goods savings, and by the end of the contract date, it had reached over $200K/yr.

• Other projects involve large scale product insourcing, and assembly/machine shop support.

GE Intelligent Platforms, Charlottesville, VA (Sept. 2010 - Dec. 2010) Contract Production Engineer

• 3 month contract editing drawings (varieties of CAD) and updating Product Data Management System (SAP) to accommodate GE name change.

Automated Production Machining, Gordonsville, VA (Feb. 2010 - July. 2010) Contract Mechanical Engineer

• Initially a 2-3 month contract (extended to 5 months) at APM designing modular part holders for a variety of CNC machines, tooling/dies/hand tools, using SolidWorks. Ashbury International, Ruckersville, VA (Jan. 2009 - July. 2009) Contract Mechanical Engineer

• 6-9 month contract position working on the ASW SABER FORRST sniper rifle system.

• I used SolidWorks and AutoCAD during the development process, along with Excel, Outlook, Word, etc while maintaining a continuous parts database.

• Conducted control system design within the Advanced Technology Group (R and D Sector).

• My primary task was the design and development of chiller control systems (both hardware and software) for a new product line.

• In addition to development I performed testing and managed up to (3) other personnel ranging from designers to technicians.

• My functions included the use of Solidworks, Microsoft Visio (CAD), AutoCAD (CAD), VisSim

(mathematical analysis), and CAREL Easy Tools. CAREL systems was the controller and software manufacturer for McQuay Chillers.

• I traveled to Pennsylvania for training in CAREL, and used VISO for designing wiring schematics, VisSim for controls modeling, and EasyTools for software programming.

• Within the first month of being employed it was required to travel overseas to Osaka, Japan, in order to witness the operation of a new prototype and to offer the first of many presentations regarding project status.

• Writing software (various types), generating Bills of Material, creating test block interface and operation, ordering parts, researching new control and testing systems.

• I did further work on Urry Solutions LLC company website (my brother's consulting firm).

DURA Automotive (Atwood Mobile Products), West Valley City, UT (Aug. 2005 - Sept. 2006) Manufacturing Engineer (Machinery Design)

• My primary concern involved the replacement of aging and failed equipment to increase production rates while lowering costs.

• Created new production processes to meet NPD requirements.

• Tertiary functions included the programming of production sheet metal parts for an AMADA Pega 357 CNC press using SMP/IS nesting software (g code generator).

• Returned a FANUC model S-12 robotic arm (with B-Controller) to operational condition after ten years in mothball status.

• I managed up to (3) designers and operators.

• Created a "Process Matrix" spreadsheet which provides an analysis of time study data (Labor Hours, Output Projections, Standard Deviation and Accuracy Ratings for given processes, etc for database storage.

• Modified old CAD designs for use in Solidworks (various versions of AutoCAD).
