Present
I was responsible for setting up a brand new 118 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital pharmacy from the ground up. I also ordered and stocked medications while continually maintaining state and federal rules and regulations. I worked with administration, nurses and doctors to start each unit. I developed nursing reference books for all units, set up and organized narcotic cabinets and logs, set up and maintained the night cart, each unit’s floor stock and retrieval logs, and patient cart. I set up and maintained scan capabilities to the pharmacy. I compiled and kept the MSDS manual for the pharmacy up to date.
On a daily basis we receive, print and enter the scanned orders from all units. Once approved by the pharmacist and labels printed, I would then fill and deliver to the appropriate units. I unit dosed bottled medications. I also ordered medications, narcotics and supplies daily in keeping with our par levels for the pharmacy and all units. I was responsible for keeping track of medication expiration dates both in the pharmacy and all areas of the hospital. I kept track of patient's home meds. I am in constant communication with nurses, doctors, and staff in regards to medications. I prepared and maintained an Emergency Disaster Kit and 4 Emergency Kits on Crash Carts. I run medication administration records for the nursing department and do cart fills 2 times a week.
