WORK EXPERIENCE
Area II Transitional Youth Services Coordinator
State of Arkansas - September 2012 to 2014
Responsibilities included managing a caseload of 200 foster youth ages 14-21 and assisting in their transition to adulthood with the goal of "successfully" exiting the foster care system. Duties included aiding in the process of entrance into college, work, independent living, and other situations relevant to responsible living. Responsibilities also included maintaining constant contact with attorneys, caseworkers, supervisors, and executive officials. As well, monthly reporting to the federal government to maintain grant funding was a primary function. This position was also responsible for assisting with the Youth Advisory Board yearly State Conference and instruction of a weekly life skills class for seven counties. Intake Specialist
Perspectives Behavioral Health Management, LLC - July 2010 to August 2012 Responsibilities included accepting referrals from clinics, schools, hospitals and other local support agencies, verifying eligibility and setting up services for outpatient counseling, medication management and day treatment services. Responsibilities included scheduling diagnostic evaluations for all Perspectives therapists, including school based therapists. Additionally, responsibilities of this position included Medicaid eligibility verification prior to establishment as the primary mental health care provider for all eight Perspective locations. Mental Health Paraprofessional/Field Based Case Manager Perspectives Behavioral Health Management, LLC - 2011 to 2011 Responsibilities as a Case Manager included assessment, scheduling, assisting clients with locating and utilizing community resources, assisting clients with coping skills, activities of daily living, and making necessary changes to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the client. A large part of my position as Case Manager involved utilizing therapeutic skills in real life situations and assisting in the processing the emotions that are conflicting with living a productive life. I was also responsible for leading a weekly Health and Wellness group once a week for an hour. In addition to this, I maintained RDS (rehabilitative day services) responsibilities once a week. These responsibilities included interacting with clients, assisting with socialization needs, coping skills, and dealing with client crisis should the situation arise. Residential Treatment Specialist/Rotating weekend Floor Supervisor OGC/Habberton House - Springdale, AR - 2010 to 2010 My responsibilities at Habberton House included setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries with the youth at the facility as well as ensuring all boundaries and rules were respected. Verbal de-escalation was a large part of my job. Occasionally I had to be involved in restraints and seclusions but this was avoided if at all possible. I assisted with daily planning and implementing activities and outings. I was promoted to RTS/Floor supervisor in October, 2010. My job duties involved placement of staff to different units, scheduling activities, calling relief persons, and attempting to maintain a positive, safe environment for staff and residents. Head Start Child and Family Services - 2004 to 2005 My responsibilities with Head Start Child and Family Services included helping to develop curriculum for the pre-k program, assisting with set up of the classroom to be conducive with learning as well as following guidelines for inclusivity. In addition to these tasks, my responsibilities included general care taking duties, clean up, assistance with meals and being a responsible and caring role model for the children who attended this center.
