2012-Present - Product Design Consultant

Developed and designed many structural composite products for the chemical and energy industries under NDA including new patent pending products. Products licensed under royalty agreement.

September 2012-Present - Product Design Consultant

Designed composite sandwich structural panel for Industry leading supplier to the US Air Force. Designed under royalty agreement.

September 2012 – 2014 - Product Design Consultant

Designed new pultruded structural decking system that will replace pressure treated lumber substructure for residential decks and boat dock applications. Design to License.

June 2011-September 2012 – Product Design Consultant

Designed and developed Geometrics Windows and entered into a license agreement with Precise Plastics Inc. Patent Issued. www.geometricswindows.com

January 2010-June 2011 Spinmaster Ltd. – Toronto Canada

Product Design Engineer for the Advanced Technology Group. Duties were to find and develop new technologies that we could apply to toys for Disney Cars, Microsoft Halo, Disney Tron and proprietary licensed brands.

January 2007- June 2008 – Product Design Engineer- Performance Building Products,

Performance Brick with fast-track technology designed and developed and entered into a license agreement with Performance Building Products. Patents issued.

January 2002-January 2007 Fortune Brands - SBR- Parkersburg WV

Director of Product Development for the R&D group. SBR was a privately held parent company with revenue of one billion dollars. The companies under SBR were Simonton Windows, Hy-lite, Fypon and Dixie Pacific. I Managed a R&D facility in Erie PA and developed products for all the companies.

1992-2002 President and Principal of K-Development Inc.

Developed and designed many consumer products for several companies. I traveled to Asia to approve first articles, assembles, tooling and to work with Asian suppliers to lower their costs. I had a staff of three design engineers and an office assistant. Some of the products we developed were:

Air Hogs brand for Spin Master Ltd. in Toronto Canada. We won the Popular Science “Best of what’s new award” in 1999. Several patents issued.

After the success of Airhogs we developed E-Chargers. Developed under a license agreement with Spin Master Ltd.

Developed “Vector Water Rocket”, under a license agreement. Patents issued.

Dental Appliance Inc. - Erie, PA.

Designed and developed the “Nocturnal Oral Airway Dilator” for a group of sleep apnea dentists. Developed under a license agreement. Patent issued.

Power Distribution Products - El Segundo, CA.

Designed and developed process to mold high current DC copper laminated distribution blocks for Cell phone towers. Lowered costs and increased production. Two patents issued.

Marvel Entertainment - New York, N.Y.

I developed flying ornithopter for Marvel. This was a wind-up, flapping winged character sold by Marvels kite company SpectraStar. Patents issued.

Toy Biz - Combi - New York, N.Y.

Designed several battery operated ride on vehicles for 2 to 4 year age group for Combi Toys. I also designed adjustable child’s high chair with prototyped full size models.

Emsco Group - Erie, PA.

I designed several outdoor products for lawn and garden. Several patents issued.

Osteomed Corp.- Dallas, Texas.

Designed developed and patented a dental implant with and adjustable abutment system with a manufacturer in Southern California. We licensed the products to Osteomed Corporation.

1988-1991 Manager of Engineering B.W.I. Inc. – Erie, PA.

B.W.I. was a 200 employee injection molder and assembler of many consumer products. I managed six toolmakers and one tooling designer.

1985-1988 Independent Product Designer. Kownacki Design.

1980-1985 Design Engineer Uniflow Mfg. Co. – Erie, PA.

Design components for flaked ice machines and walk-in coolers.

Achievements

I have 28 issued utility patents and two pending utility patents.

Won “Best of what’s new award” from Popular Science in 1998”.
