Laboratory Technician/Microbial Analysis/Data Entry

Proficiency in the standard analytical testing of sugars, chemical analysis of process waters

Microbiological assessment of sugars and in the calibration and upkeep of instrumentation

used to carry out these tests

Analytical tests of sugars include measurements of % solids, % invert, % ash, % sucrose,

color, turbidity, sediment and pH.

The list of instruments used include; refractometer, spectrophotometer, conductivity

meter, saccharimeter, turbidity meter, vacuum pump and pH meter

Process waters are sampled on a daily bases. Hot water, steam, tap water, boiler water and water from the softener are checked for hardness, pH, sulfate, alkalinity, conductivity and

phosphates using titration drop tests kits

Microbial testing of sugars is performed by the Millipore filtration technique.

Assessment of sugars involves sampling of product, sterile media preparation, sterilization of equipment, sample dilution, sample plating and daily tabulation of plate counts.
