1984-1988 California State University, Fresno B.A. Biology and Minor Chemistry

1988-1993 UCLA School of Medicine Received M.D. on May 23, 1993

WORK EXPERIENCE:

1990-1991 Completed the equivalent of the first year of Pathology residency. During my third year in medical school, I acted as first year resident in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA department of Pathology and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I performed dissections and signed cases with attending pathologist in surgical pathology. I also assisted on autopsy service and performed laboratory diagnostics.

1990-1991 During the year 1990-1991, I designed and created a PC-based computer atlas of the chinchilla brainstem, mapping out fiber projections to the vestibular nuclei. Tissue sections with 2 micron thickness were used to create the atlas, which was voted as “most outstanding” by NIH reviewers.

1993-1995 Pathology Resident at UC San Diego Medical Center and VA La Jolla. Completed PGY-2 and PGY-3 at UC San Diego Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Duties included signing out surgical pathology cases, performing autopsies and conducting laboratory diagnostics as well as teaching first and second year medical students.

1997-1998 Post-doctoral fellow in Molecular Biology and Cell Culture at UCLA Department of Neuroscience funded by NIH grant to study vestibular hair cell regeneration/proliferation using dissociated cell culture in the mammalian (Chinchilla) model.

1998-1999 Medical Director of American Home Health and Hospice

I was in charge of the clinical operations of the home health agency, directed medical personnel and made “house calls.” I was also volunteer hospice director.

2000-2002 Management Coordinator at Parkside Surgical Institute in Santa Monica, CA

I coordinated the activities of medical personnel, and I was in charge of management and billing.

2008-2012 Director of Electronic Medical Solutions

I owned and operated a medical management business.

2010-2012 Instructor in Medical Office Management at Los Angeles ORT College

Instructed college students in courses including medical assisting, anatomy and physiology as well as medical terminology.

2013-2014 Biotechnology outreach program for middle schools. I was the presenter for the CTE Biotechnology outreach program at MSJC. I visited middle schools and got them introduced to Biotechnology by presenting material and conducting laboratory sessions.

2013-present Associate Professor in Anatomy and Physiology at Mount San Jacinto College

I teach both lecture and lab to community college students of Anatomy and Physiology using a student-centered hands-on approach. I currently teach two sections at 100% load.
