Working as a volunteer research assistant in the Emergency Department to assist the clinical research study team in duties pertaining the study. These duties include, but are not limited to: applying in depth knowledge of protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria; identifying qualifying subjects through medical history review and patient/parent guardian interview; obtaining informed consent from providers and patients, ensuring that patients are competent in understanding the consent form. Working with medical staff and clinical lab in obtaining blood samples from study participants.

Working in embryonic stem cells research laboratory while utilizing high-throughput sequencing methodologies (DIP and ChIP-Seq) to examine the transcriptional factors and epigenetic networks that regulate embryonic stem cells self –renewal and differentiation.

As the recipient of the Cancer Research Training Award, I had the opportunity to be an intern in Dr. Alan Rein’s Laboratory in the Retroviral Replication branch of the National Cancer Institute. This experience gave me the opportunity of applying cellular and molecular biology techniques to validate the construction of chimeric gene between rat and mouse for Apobec3 gene (found to be effective in restricting Moloney Murine Leukemia virus’ infectivity in rats more than mice.)
-Volunteer Research Assistant OHSU’S Urologic Oncology 03/2012-12/2012
Worked as a volunteer with a surgical oncologist on a project that involved in identifying the predictors of cancer survival among patients undergoing surgery for urologic cancers. My tasks included; clinical research data collection, subject screening using EPIC medical records system and database management towards research publication projects.
