PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

iRobot Corporation, Bedford, MA July 2014 – March 2015

Principal Mechanical Engineer (contract), Home Products BU

Proposed, designed and quickly built a unique R&D apparatus and developed a test method for efficiently exploring the impacts of the cleaning system’s critical design variables. Implemented several investigative approaches such as the high speed video and built-in sensors to study the underlying physics of the dust extraction/collection process. Originated a number of ideas for improvement and executed an experimental program to confirm their validity.

Gillette/Procter& Gamble Co., Boston, MA 1996 - May 2014

Senior Scientist/Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Technology R&D Group 2000 - May 2014

Invented, demonstrated and implemented novel manufacturing processes, technologies, tooling, instrumentation and test methods in such fields as: part handling in plastic injection molding (patent), ultrasonic transformations of plastics, laser technologies, assembly automation, liquid dispensing, rheology, molding of semisolid materials, high speed spindles for blade sharpening lines, etc.

Instrument to measure blade loading while cutting hair under a variety of conditions.

Adapted an SMT assembly robot for the task of flexible shaving cartridge assembly.

Innovative method of handling plastic molded parts (patented).

A variety of novel techniques, pumps, valves for liquid dispensing.

Novel methods of forming items out of semi-solid materials.

Novel techniques of utilizing ultrasonics for assembly of plastic parts.
